Softporn is not fake because its softporn. Softporn is rated x while hardporn is rated triple x.. There ere no actual penetration in rated x or soft porn but you can see the private parts pubic hair, the dick and sometimes the woman's clit but you can't see the actual penetration because there is none.. True. Most of the time its simulated sex. But sometimes they film the actual hardcore penetration by using camera angles that don't allow you to see anything.

Actually, all adult movies are rated X. The XXX rating is something that movie studios came up with as a shock-marketing stunt. The MPAA only has the X rating, though.

In the early days most softcore was mostly just simulated penetration.

When the industry figured out that by using different cameras and angles they could sell the same move to a different audience (Cinemax/HBO comes to mind) they started making both XXX-rated and X-rated versions reaping more profit.

There have been a couple of times where I've seen scenes in movies on Cinemax where it was softcore, only to later see the same exact scene harcore on DVD.
