Irish Punk bands

Ok I have been a fan of Irish Punk music for many a years, well 10 to be exact since my wife got me introduced to them when we were dating. Two of my all time favorites are Dropkick Murphys(Best Irish punk band in America) and Flogging Molly.

I've worked for the Murphys before. Their gear looks like it was salvaged from an explosion. It's great!

Anything from the Murphy's pre 1999 is great; after that I got tired of them.
It is too bad Al Barr went with them The Bruisers were awesome.

Surely The Pogues deserve a mention here?

Not "punk" in the true sense of the word, but there's definitely a punkish element to them.

The Pogues are still the standard, more post-punk but a incredible group of course run by Shan.

I have. They're way better than Flogging Molly, in my opinion. I'm Irish and even I don't like Flogging Molly. I like that they skate, that's about it. THAT'S JUST ME, THOUGH!! I know they're pretty popular. :dunno:

The only good irish punk band I have heard is Stiff Little Fingers.

DKM puts on a helluva concert. 1 of the best shows I've ever seen, I'm thinking of making plans to go to Boston for the St. Patrick's Day show they do next year.

Other great Irish Punk Bands are The Killigans ,The ****** Irish Boys or Neck!
And of course the Real McKenzies!ok they are scottish-canadian but despite this fact they are very good!

The Pogues absolutly deserve mention. There would be no Murphy's or Molly without the Pogues.

I like RATM too. Just cause I like their music for entertainment does not mean that I share their politics.

Dropkick and flogging molly are my favorites.....They both put on an awesome undescribable show. Get the dropkick murphys on the road video, its great. and its long too. Check out Street Dogs, if you liked the first 2 dropkick albums. Thats Mike the original singers band now. Also, Seven Deadly Sins can be found on myspace, they are good. Thats the chick Stephanie from the Dirty Glass duo with murphys and her band.
