Iraqi Dog Saved By US Marine

Thought some of you might like to read this feel-good story.

SAN DIEGO (AP) — It began with a simple act of kindness to save an abused, injured dog from becoming one more victim in the Iraq war.

But what followed for Marine Maj. Brian Dennis and the mutt was a tale of friendship and loyalty that spanned miles and overcame long odds — one set to take a turn Friday with the anticipated arrival here of the Marine's best friend.

"This dog who had been through a lifetime of fighting, war, abuse ... is going to live the good life," Dennis told his family in an e-mail from Iraq.

what the fuck you lookin at?
It would have ended up on someones dinner plate had this marine not stepped in!

With all due respect to my friend Senob, I find this somewhat distressing.Invading a country and creating a situation where 100s of thousand of HUMANS have died is not offset by saving a dog in any way and is not to be admired IMO.People are more important than dogs!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Point taken......and generally agreed with. Like our friend L3ggy, and also Becks, my soft spot for animals often gets the better of me.

I don't think anyone expects stories like this to offset the misery and suffering. But within every conflict humane acts do take place, and imo it's important we are occasionally reminded the actors on that stage are not machines, but flesh and blood and emotions just like you and I.

Of course it's not offset. And I don't agree people are more important than dogs, some people i'd rather let die and save the dog, dogs don't have a moral conscious like humans. It's a nice story anyway.

I saw that on the news.

It is a good story the military likes for publicity as mentioned.

Great story.

Its nice to read things like this.

I think it's a nice story. For all the negative reporting that we get from the media, it's nice when they report on something that isn't blood, gore, and guts.

Well thank god for that, I was really worried about all the dogs.

For every good deed, there is a nasty one.

Anyone offended by extreme cruelty to animals, don't click this link.

US soldier throws puppy off cliff

See you should be worried lol.But seriously as cruel as your vid is I still think all this focus on dogs as opposed to people is slightly out of whack.I guarantee similar things have been done to people, they just aren't foolish enough to tape it.Or at least we haven't seen them yet.

As bad as this may sound: I can understand the mentality of a soldier if he decides to kill or injure a human for no reason.

They might be stupid or ignorant enough to think that all Iraqis are evil, so they want to hurt everyone possible.

That does not mean I'm saying it's ok, it's still fucked up and definately wrong.

But this just god damn Puppy! What could of possibly of thought he was accomplishing by picking it up then going to find a place to throw him? (I'm guessing it wasn't just sitting there next to the cliff by itself waiting to be found)
