Bush Commutes Sentences for Two Former Border Patrol Agents
President Bush commutes the sentences of Ignacio Ramos and Jose Alonso Compean, convicted of shooting a Mexican **** runner in 2005.

On his last full day in office, President Bush commuted the controversial sentences of two former Border Patrol agents convicted of shooting a Mexican **** runner in 2005.

The imprisonment of Ignacio Ramos and Jose Alonso Compean had sparked outcry from critics who said the men were just doing their jobs and were punished too harshly. They had been sentenced to 11- and 12-year sentences, respectively.

Their sentences will now expire on March 20 of this year.

Why the Fuck March 20 ?
They should be pardoned ! Bush is still a dick ! Always will be !

I agree. They were justified in shooting the ******* immigrant in my opinion. Although, they shouldn't have covered it up.

Also, bush is, indeed, a penis.

They did their job and well.

They were also imprisoned illegally.

An ******* doesn't have any rights in this country.
I don't care what a liberal socialists says.

If they are illegally here, they can be shot anywhere any time.
Basically for any reason. They don't have any rights.

Stay in your country and legally obtain citizenship.

Finally glad to see this situation rectified. How can a border guard do their job when fired upon when they are unable to use their firepower.

Hmm. interesting, I couldn't find any stories about this that weren't from a severely biased viewpoint in favor of these officers.

I did however read the court transcripts of the verdict. They were found not guilty of attempted ******, but guilty on the charges of assault and intent to inflict injury with a deadly weapon and deprivation of law and aiding and abetting the commission of a crime on all counts, unanimously by the jury, for both defendants.

Also they tried to appeal the verdict and it was denied.

The question is not whether you think they should be allowed to do what they did, but whether what they did was in accordance to what they were legally entitled to do. It seems to me that it's a pretty clear case that the jury felt like they were breaking the law.

contrary to misguided belief, an officer does not have any more prerogative to use their firearm than the average citizen does, in fact they have even less because they have to obey many guide lines and internal scrutiny, whereas a citizen can pretty much use their weapon inside their home with virtually no oversight.

Irony: Thinking that ******* people is OK, but that saying the word "fuck" is unacceptable.

and why shouldn't he be able to smuggle ***** so that Americans can buy, sell and use them? that's capitalism (it's in-sourcing jobs!), that's freedom. where is your sense of patriotic liberty?

it's fucking hypocritical bullshit. we can have a libertarian freedom fest, which means people might get to do some things that you don't like, or else you can have Big ******* all up in your business 24/7, because that is the only way to separate the "guilty" from the "innocent." It can't go both ways. If you think that your right to do what you want should only be given to you and your friends and denied from everyone else, then you are an asshole. and it aint gonna happen.

Hey look at the bright side......NO MORE BUSH!!!!! This county got just a well needed shave.

The guy that was shot was CAUGHT smuggling *****, and the officers were trying to apprehend him, the biggest crime is that the **** smuggler hasn't assumed room temperature!

They should have ventilated his ass several more times, he is a known smuggler and problem.

this is contradictory to me. how is a border patrol suppose to protect our borders from criminal and a **** smuggler would be a criminal... so why is it not ok for them to shoot a criminal smuggling ***** to the us? wtf are they supposed to do?

So we can all go around, check people randomly for a Driver's License or a U.S. passport and if we don't find one, we can just shoot that person? The Nazis thought this was a wise policy back in the '30s. Are you a white supremacist who happens to accept porn?

Maybe it's better to shoot white supremacists?

These 2 border patrolmen were dumbfucks who tried to cover up a execution, basically. They should've served their fullterm and paid their debt to society. Nobody, certainly dumbfucks, is above the law.

If you know they are ******* and they have ***** like this guy did, then they don't have any rights. They need to stay in their country until they are a legal citizen.

I never said it would be right to check people for their papers like they did in Germany.

They were doing their job and well. They shouldn't have spent one night in prison.

How do "you know" they are ******* without checking identification? Or should border agents or any officer just shoot first and sort it out later?

The criminal code in the U.S. does not make an ******* citizen distinction.

Well, if you're at the border and you see someone coming across they might just be an ******* sneaking into America. ;)

Or they might be an American citizen....or a priest...or a terrorist...or a relief worker...or a Libertarian who supports the free exchange of labor and capital...

Our country does not shoot people on American soil. People that do that on American soil, they typically get arrested and thrown into jail.

This is Bush's offering of support to the Republican Nativist Constituency.

What is, the commutation ?

The record shows that members in both houses of Congress, on both sides of the aisle, led by Dianne Feinstein, have been working on this commutation / pardon for months.

Commutation, as I understand it, means that these two agents will remain as convicted felons and will receive no pension.
Not bad for an evening attempting to hold the line.

Sad

If businesses or suburbanites would stop hiring undocumentated workers and hire Americans instead...there would be no "line" to hold.

Two years ago, in the Texas desert southeast of El Paso, two U.S. Border Patrol agents fired 15 bullets at a suspected *********** who was fleeing on foot toward the border. The man, a Mexican national, was hit once in the buttocks but made it across the Rio Grande. The agents who fired their weapons, Ignacio Ramos and Jose Compean, were sentenced to more than a decade in prison for firing on an unarmed man and then trying to cover up the crime.

For the prosecutors and the jury, the shooting of Osvaldo Aldrete-Davila near Fabens, Texas, was a clearly unlawful use of *****. But the conviction of Ramos and Compean was just the beginning of the agents' story. Within months, they had become the center of a dubious political crusade that would energize the furthest reaches of the right, dominate one of CNN's most popular news programs, and persuade a quarter of the U.S. House of Representatives -- and one prominent Democratic senator -- to reject the findings of a federal court.

With the help of reporters and activists promoting -- and embellishing -- the defense's version of the case, the two convicted agents were transformed into martyrs for the battle against ******* immigration. Instead of rogue officers who shot a fleeing, unarmed suspect and then lied about it, they became stand-up cops who were ****** to shoot an armed *********** and then sent to prison by a legal system run amok. After they went to prison in January 2007, they even became the tragic heroes of a country song called "Ramos and Compean."

This situation is an absolute ********. Officers will not have to rethink before drawing their firearm and that split second could mean their life.

Kinda like that border patrol officer imprisoned for firing at a car that he pulled over and it tried to run him over because it was stuffed with Mexicans. He shot at it and hit a woman hidden in the fucking WHEEL CHAMBER.
