If you could change just one thing about Freeones; what would it be?

I'm sorry to say, but I don't really care if someone gets banned anymore - they broke a rule or rules and that's the price to pay according to the rules of this board.
That decision should be the moderators job, not the members.

This would not fly if someone came on the board and started writing all sorts of racist remarks - that person could go on for a week before the majority decided to ban or not. Stuff like that has been done here and dealt with quickly. (Not getting on your bad side, mcrocket).

One thing I like to do, as you know, is post links for some of my fave babes. With the new rule in place about not double posting gallery links, I find myself wanting to just type "Good job" after a post I made so I can post a new gallery. I have yet to do that though...Thanks.

but jod im starting to agree, i figure i wont be banned cause i have only opened one account, rarely flame other members lol and dont spam stupid crap

if someone gets banned i take for granted that it was for a good reason, and usually if asked the mods explain themselves

We have rules just to make sure that everything goes smoothly here. To make sure that no one is abusing the Freeones Message Board (which is paid for by Freeones) to spam their own stuff. To make sure that it is a happy place where people can search for their favourite babes and discuss them (or even talk with them).

If someone breaks the rules, they get banned (well, usually they get a warning first if it's not that bad). The moderators spend a lot of time at this board and most of the time if you do a banning you just want to get it over with. It is not the best part of the moderating, that is for sure. There are a few cases in which we discuss threads or people first, like BNF said. But I wouldn't find it useful if we ask a member jury about that first.

If you compare it to real life (one of you did that), please let me remind you that people on the ban list here aren't "suspects" but they really DID break the rules. So if a jury decides (on emotional grounds) that XX shouldn't be banned, he can just go on breaking the rules on full speed. That is not the result that we are looking for.

If you have a question about a ban, please just ask one of the moderators in a PM. We will be happy to let you know! We inform each other about every ban, so we all know about it.

Going with the flow of conversation in this thread (well, for the most part ) I think that when a new moderator is needed, Freeones and the other mods should select a couple of nominees and then the members cast the final vote over who will be the mod. This way the admin will/should be happy no matter what the outcome, and the members here will be happy with their democratically elected peace-keeping representative.

there's one thing i'd really like to change. i'm not comfortable with the "banned4life" option. i think everyone deserves a second Chance. if he/she fucks up for the second time, you have my blessing for banning that member for good. but a second Chance should be granted !

This is trivial, but I myself would like to see the color scheme changed, but it likely won't happen since the "brand name" has been well-established with the current color scheme. Baby blue and orange just are not my favorite colors together. lol

As for the board... Hmmm, let's see. I'd: more strictly enforce sig size rules, allow 100X100 avatars (we already discussed the bandwidth consumption issue, but for some reason the avy size doesn't look like it'll be changing soon), select proven moderators from about as many time zones as possible so there would be fewer periods where no moderation was happening, make the "show sig" button default to "on" (people who go to the trouble to make sigs for themselves typically use them in the vast majority of their posts), allow for rep history to be saved instead of rolling off over time, and lastly I'd tweak the rep system in such a way (maybe a longer period of time between repping the same person) as to really preclude "mutually masturbatory repping" where people just trade rep points back and forth for no good reason other than being "buddies."

Just a few thoughts. :hatsoff:

As Marie and other mods have said, most people get a PMed warning (if their violation is not a big one) before even getting a ban. Then they usually get a timed ban first. After that, they get the banned4life ban, because they have shown an inability to adhere to and respect the rules.

Excellent idea. Actually I just read through the whole thread and this was the suggestion I had in mind, too. Either the way Superfly suggested or maybe we could elect one members representative to add to the existing mod panel. I know that the current mods are doing a great job and have (mostly) been regular members before, but a mod elected by us members would lend the whole thing a more democratic touch IMO.
