I recognise that there are differing perspectives on abortion.

I recognise that there are differing perspectives on gun control.

I welcome the debate, the discussion, and I think that through civil, reasoned discussion we can all learn from one another. I'm for the debate. When the discussion stops, freedoms disappear.

However, when your argument looks like this, I'm done with you. Not because we have a disagreement about gun control or about abortion, but because you're just plain stupid.

You pretty much said it already. It's pretty bad that people can be so cavalier about their insistence on what is essentially medical fascism ("your body is mine to dictate") that they can take such a flippant approach and still believe themselves to be coming from a moral high ground.

Are you sure the idea isn't that... uh, somehow the fetus is going to shoot the doctor performing the abortion? I mean, it would be tough to get a clear shot, but if firing out of the vagina... it's a maybe. Well, I mean, you know... if you don't have a working knowledge of biology and aren't aware of the amniotic sac or the mucus plug protecting the uterus...

Hmm, somehow I missed this.

This is generally true. Most abortions take place at the embryo stage. There are later abortions performed both in the US and Canada though. Canada actually has (or at least had, don't know about current figures) about 10% of abortions as late term. Generally these are done in scenarios where the mother's life is in danger, or there are other issues.

*sigh* Babies would have no idea of the concept 'gun' in the first place, let alone what it's for and what to do with it. That knowledge and awareness comes with age, together with the 'morale' (for lack of a better word) of it's use. Same goes for the concept 'abortion'. I'm not going into an endless debate of pro or contra guns or abortion. Every human should develop his own morale and respect the others opinions and believes (if these are within reasonable boundaries), and not shove it down someone's throat because it's different. But it this case it's just another ridiculous and meaningless campaign slogan that proves stupidity instead of reasoning. Once again another fail for mankind.

Legal late-term abortions here in Canada are only granted if the mothers life is in danger, or if there are serious health issues for the baby. Legally, though, abortions can only be given here up until the 12 week mark.
