KFC and Subway, and how about oil companies like Exxon (selling gas as ESSO here in Canada and likely other places)? Computer companies like Dell, HP, and IBM. Might be simpler to just start listing all the companies that pulled out of Russia recently
There are a lot of iconic American brands that could be listed here that have zero footprint in other countries (as was pointed out above). I don't think that diminishes their brand as iconic but it makes it harder for the global audience on this board to appreciate them. Living in Canada and drowning in TV from the south, I see ads on TV all the time for iconic companies that don't exist in Canada - restaurants and grocery stores come to mind immediately.
What I think is a more interesting list would be companies that most Americans would think are home-grown but really come from overseas, maybe something like Shell or Phillips.
