Hulkster !

Although I was never really fanatic about "professional wrestling", I found that it had great appeal when the guys get together for a drinking binge :glugglug:

I also liked watching the late Ray Traylor (Big Bossman). He personified the stereotypical Southern Anglo . . . would be, bad cop to the "T". RIP Ray.

Honorable mention -

Jake the Snake, Brother Love, Slickster and S C A R Y xx S H A R I

Jake the Snake Roberts! Him, or Hacksaw Jim Duggan.

... cmon.. where's the punchline? Where's the third option: PRIYA RAI?

Colonel.. you're a wily one! lolol ;)

Maybe we don't know that they're actually both from India... :dunno:

While we are on subject for old school wrestlers here's my top list:

Bret "Hitman" Hart - Got his autograph at RVD's comic shop but decided not to spend more to take picture with him.. now I am regretting that decision.

RVD - So down to earth and was willing to chat with me about stuff. Would love to see him at a show someday.

Mike Foley - Own a lot of his DVD for greatest matches. Love all his alter egos.

The Rock - One of the best on the mic. Not too shabby in the ring either.

Steve Austin - See The Rock.

British Bulldog - Love the team and the individual wrestler.

Ric Rude - Got a nice gimmick going with the ladies.

Ted DiBiasi - Million Dollar Man was one of the greatest heels ever.

Ricky Steamboat - He's the face for all ages. Really enjoyed his matches with Honky Tonk Man.

don't forget greg the hammer valentine, brutus beefcake, uncle elmer, king kong bundy, the iron sheik, alex the giant and rowdy roddy piper...

80s wrestling was great fun for me. that time, i've seen my first shows and i think those days are legend. it was more about charisma, endurance and entertainment than today, it seems that they someday crossed a line where the fun should end (what is a general problem if society has fun with the extremes). i can't enjoy that kind of sports anymore. it's getting more and more boring to me, as i could figure out the rules behind the show, the manifestation of "the good" and "the bad", the dynamics of stars switching their rolemodel and the calculated unfairness in main fights to upset the people.

and after seing a documentation about the life of a pro-wrestler, the illusion was completely bursted. what a tragedy behind the scenes.

They were tag team champions back in the day. Then the comedy writers decided to have MM turn on HH. Savage used to accuse Hogan of "showboating and grandstanding." :1orglaugh

Randy Savage for me.

There was just something about the Macho Man that appealed greatly to the young wrestling fan I once was - the hats, the shades, the mannerisms, the voice...

OOOOHHH YEAH!

The Hulkster....but not by much. The "Macho Man" was awesome.

What no Ric Flair? He carried wrestling when it was territorial. Even when Vince started buying out companies to make wrestling national. I bought into the whole Hulkamania thing when I was a kid but I realized there are far more superior wrestlers as I grew up but also found out that a wrestler has to be good on the mic as well as in the ring.

With that said, I'd give my vote to the "Nacho Man".

You know, the same question crossed my mind. You'd have to put the "Nature Boy" right there. WOOOOO!!!!

The Hulk. After that was The Road Warriors with Animal and Hawk.

Hulk Hogan's best days were actually when he was in the nWo. His look and personality were perfect for that role. The good guy Hogan days were pretty cheesy.

In retrospect, yeah I would have to agree. But for it's time and place, I think Hulkamania was pretty cool. It's kinda like Batman Forever. Not very fondly rememered by a good majority, but for it's time and place, it seemed like it was exactly the kind of Batman film people wanted to see in the summer of 1995. And indeed, it was one of the biggest money makers that year. With one of the largest openings at that time as well.

Basically some shit in retrospect makes one ponder, "What the FUCK were they THINKING?" And the success of Hulk-A-Mania, and to a lesser exent, Batman Forever, are both examples of shit working out great for it's time, but are now seen in a totally different light.

The Macho Mayyyyyan Woo! I totally forgot about how bad ass he was until I read this thread. He was really the shit. "Oooooooohhhh yeaaaaah" Snap in to a Slim Jim bitches! :D

Hogan had charisma and Vince betting the farm on him. Neither would have mattered if it wasn't for Roddy Piper getting sooo much heat. Macho Man wrestled better but in hindsight you only really think about three things with him. Slim Jims, Elizabeth, and one match against Steamboat. Oh and that he sounded like he haden't shit in ten years. Flair had to walk the line between face and heel for much of the time he was Champ. Flair could make almost anyone appear to be a contender. Hogan only made himself look good.
