How to create vidcaps of an AVI or MPEG???

does anyone have a link to a free program wich creates
vidcaps like this :

from an Avi- or MPEG-File...

just like this "select file"->"chose count of vidcaps"->"and creates a jpg".

I have serched with google, but had no success :dunno:

If you have a pc, you probably have Windows Movie Maker that comes with your windows software.

Here is how using WMM:

Start Windows Movie Maker and choose "Import video" from the menu on the left.

Click on the thumbnail for the video you imported.

Now you can play it using the controls on the right.

Pause playback on the frame you want to capture then click the icon that looks like a camera that says "Take picture" when the mouse is over it.


That opens the standard Windows "Save As" dialog box where you can name the vidcap and choose where to save it on your hard drive.



You can also use Ifranview. It's Easy and free.

This may be more helpful for your needs:

To convert (part of) a movie to a series of JPEG files, I use MPlayer (download from http://www.mplayerhq.hu or http://mplayerosx.sf.net). I use the following command to save 10 frames starting at 555 seconds from the beginning of t.avi:

mplayer -nosound -vo jpeg -frames 9 -ss 555 t.avi
# creates 00000001.jpg to 00000004.jpg

but this is not direct what I want,
I know how to capture just one frame of a clip,
this is easy to me I use often virtualdub for this option.

but I just want to create a sheet like this :

and I´m searching for a tool wich captures the frames auto.....
hm .. I think I was to slow to repost
and this tool offers a jpg like this, or do I have to place the captured
frames with photoshop or paintshop,etc. on a blank jpg ???

what ?? no other solution ?? . how do they create this vidcap previews ???
..
it can´t be like this ... capture ever 555´s frame
then load it into a graphic program, create an empty sheet,
copy and paste as a new layer into the empty picture,
use the text option to enter the timeposition of the captured frame,
leave the upper position free to enter the name, the size of the vid, the name .etc. what ??? :eek:

i think there must be another possibility .... shhh...

I've got a program called Image Grabber II. I can't remember where I got it, but it must have been free as I never pay for anything. :1orglaugh

The one I use is Media Player Classic. Just play what you want, then click File> Save Thumbnails. You can adjust how many you want.
