How do I post a thread to the forum please?

I realise this must seem like a dumb question to the regulars here, but I'd apprecaite some help...

Just to make clear, I don't wish to post a thread on the discussion group,
I want to post a 'new subject' thread on the FORUM - the forum where you and everyone can search for things...

I've posted 6 threads now, but I still don't see a 'New Thread' or 'Start New Thread' option available in the forum area.

I'm confused. Help please...

Hit the "new topic" bit in the forum index you are in

There's a button at the top of the forum that you click on.

Do I have to be in a certain area to start or can I find it say on this page as well ?

The button is only in the main forums, not in individual threads. Go to the main page in Talk for example and look at the top left corner.
