yeah Im too far away for any damage at all. I only felt one set of waves, for example. 5.6 can do big damage to poorly constructed buildings, but arent that bad. Im not hearing about any damage or injuries out there still, so no biggie.
I havent ever felt an earthquake out here, so when I felt it, it was a cause for concern to say the least. I thought a big one hit over there, but that wasnt the case, thankfully. I was in the San Fran area in 1989, so I didnt have a clue how we felt them out here. lol.
again, no reports of major damage or injuries. Some very minor aftershocks and some phone issues, nothing bad.
The Calaveras fault is definitely capable of a big quake, so this stress release is a good thing. Of course, the fault I've always been scared of is the Hayward fault. Part of that is due to living in its shadow (which appears to be hills in the east bay) when I was younger, but also due to time elapse. On average, this fault has a major earthquake every 140 years. This month marked year 139.
so hopefully this isnt a sign of things to come and just an isolated event, which it probably is.
