High School Reunions

Isn't going to a high school reunion a little pathetic?

That's a little strong isn't it? What are your reasons for thinking it's pathetic?

I'm still in touch with most of my friends from my school, but in 20 years time I probably wont be. And then I'd love to catch up with them all. And hell, even the ones I didn't like.

We dont do them over here (UK), at least I dont think we do.

They aren't that common, but they do happen sometimes.

If I want to see people with whom I went to high school, I'll order a pizza.

The old saying "you can't go home again" becomes blatantly evident as a truism if you go to a high school reunion.

Don't waste your time.

I went to my 10th HS reunion a year and a half ago and I had a great time. I would say there was probably about a 75% turn out and a lot of the people who didn't show up were the people I didn't want to see anyway. In HS I was an academic and a jock so I knew a lot of people from different crowds, popular and unpopular. I was so busy that I didn't even get to spend all the time talking to people that I would have liked to, so I stay in touch with some via phone and email. I was a late bloomer in HS so it was cool to find out from a few of the girls I knew that they had always had the hots for me.

All in all, it was terrific and a big confidence booster, which is something I didn't even really expect it to be.

I went to my 10th and 20th and the 30th is coming up in a few months. It's cool if people you liked and hung around with are there.

In general it's like being at a large company Christmas party. You hang out with people that you know and everyone else are just other people that happen to be there. You take no notice of them and they take no notice of you. (Unless you or they get really hammered and make a scene).
