I use a PC and want to know of any software (preferably free) that i can use to scan through my itunes folder and clean up the duplicate tracks on there and give it a general tidy. I know you can use something on a mac which does this, is there anything you can get for a PC as well?
Yes. There is a "display duplicates" feature. I believe it's under the "File" menu. I know there are also programs/plugins for windows that are supposed to help you clean your library. I never had much luck with them. They were all clunky or overpriced (or both) for my tastes. I like to use MediaMonkey & install some of the scripts. They do an awesome job of helping you manage your mp3s! The only problem is that your itunes wont know that you've deleted files so you're going to end up with a bunch of "question mark" songs (when the song is listed in itunes but itunes cant find the file). It's kind of annoying but you can delete them as you come across them.
