Kink offered HD videos back when pretty much nobody was and stuff was mostly shot on non-HD DV camcorders and hardly anyone had HDTVs back then. They were once doing webcast stuff that nobody else could do at the time because they were tapped into the tech talent in SF. Unfortunately, they haven't really changed anything since 2008 or so. I can't really figure out why, but it seems like they have just gotten stagnant and care more about quantity than quality. Part of it may be that the Kink demographic isn't really making them any money and Kink is definitely one of the more pirated sites out there, so why bother putting a lot of effort into making it great, ya know? As for other sites, I've seen that a lot of them aren't big on investing time and money to make HQ content because the site runners just don't care and want to spend all the money they make on food/*****/*****/whatever and they invest literally NOTHING into making their business grow. From reading the adult webmaster forums where I sometimes lurk and post, many adult website peeps act like it's still 1998, when running an adult website made you a gazillionaire and you could get away with poor decision making as long as you're living the High Life and doing three trips to Cancun or Vegas every year. Piracy has also taken a big toll on adult websites, as we all know, but the file sharing sites are starting to go down and won't recover since many credit card companies won't allow their cards to be used with them and won't allow foreign transactions. ISPs now also have software that identifies and monitors ******* activity and they are starting to take it seriously too, with users getting throttled or having their service terminated. At this point, the real problem for websites are the streaming sites like YouPorn and such, which often have copyrighted content uploaded, while being under the control of companies that run their own sites in competition with the sites that the copyrighted content came from.
