Just to point out an obvious fact...many military hate war...they are many of our best people.
It's the uninitiated that have such one sided and complete judgement on the subject, often using Hollywood movie scenarios, and opinions from selected people (Einstein? He was a math whiz, not a philosopher!), to slander those who have gone there and come back. Many didn't come back, but they left a legacy for those who did of ultimate sacrifice. No one can be forced to stand in combat, it's a gut decision how you react. If soldiers never complained the sun would fall from the sky and Hell would freeze in July...but when the shit happens people find the inner self and do what seems impossible to the outsider.
Political reality is far away from the battlefield.
Namreq is full of judgemental extremism, but has he served? You know that immediately from his words, and extremist philosophy.
I am a lazy fuck, no doubt about that...but when I need to get something important done over a period of hours or months or years I do it without reservation...like caring for my dogs when I was a breeder, or my daughter when she was a newborn, or losing everything and starting over.
If I needed to deal with something as hard as a year or more of military engagement I wouldn't want to, believe me...but I'd do it when it was time, and make it to the other side if I could...the other side being home, family, and I can't believe I'm still alive!
I salute anyone who did their time dealing with idiots, nasty places to be, govenment BS and regulations, and mean folks who wanted to see your "inner self" blown to the four directions, and still kept it together.
Warriors make it possible for philosophers to exist and philosophize; just don't expect non-military to get the whole experience and be the least bit grateful.
