Mentally handicapped people are treated as third class citizens in the mental health system.
They are subjected to ***** and with indifference by incompetent therapists and hospital employees.
Most people who fall into the system are used as human test subjects for new psychological theories and new *****.
Most of those tests are not related to or beneficial to the illness the person has.
The mental health system is a source and repository for test subjects.
I read that psychologists have one of the highest suicide rates.
Initially I thought it was only because they see so much suffering and we don't have the knowledge or means to help them.
But it's also because of all the *****, indifference and incompetence in the system.
