Happened 40-years ago: gas lines

In 1979, a new oil crisis struck western countries and motorists had to sit for hours in their cars if they wanted to buy gas.

If somebody thought it was more sensible to order a taxi and use it to travel to work it may not have been a good idea because most taxis couldn't get started because of a gas shortage.



People were v-e-r-y annoyed.

I remember the even/odd license plate days as a *** in California. There was a line around the block to get gas.

That doesn't seem terribly expensive if you compare it to current gasoline prices!

At that time not so many Finns owned a car so the gas lines were short here and the often lawnmowers had no engine.
