Halo 3

I think that both Halo and Halo 2 failed to live up to their full potential. The story started out great in the first one, but then got pretty boring and repetetive in the end. In the sequel, the story was horrible. I didn't even care about it in the end, but just played through the game in a somewhat lame and boring Rambo style.

What has saved the Halo games so far, is a good system and the multiplayer aspect. The way the game works with the weapons and such is good, though I think the weapons and effects could have been better. The multiplayer is very fun online, but that is also due to the ease of using Xbox Live, as well as how many people play it constantly. It's very easy and fast to get a game going.

I'll no doubt play Halo 3 too, and I'll probably also be more excited about it when it's close to being released, but for now I don't care much about it. I hope that we'll see a lot of improvement in the story mode, as well as some revolutionary ideas in the multiplayer part.

Halo 1 & 2 were pretty much the same game to me so 3 isn't going to be much different

The story was pretty good in the first one, although it bugged me that it seemed to be ripping off Ringworld. The second one wasn't as good story-wise, although the gameplay was improved. I really like the games actually, and I'm looking forward to the third one. The trailer looks great, and while I'm here, who else thinks Cortana is a total babe? I wish my computer was like that.

I agree about that for Halo 2. What you can play of games on Xbox Live really outshines the feeble little story mode.

However, I actually had a lot of fun playing through a couple of missions of the first game with a friend. In fact I very much like to play FPS games co-op. I tend to find that it can make an utterly horrible game seem okay if you're having fun with someone else at the same time.

But yeah, multiplayer is definately where the Halo games have had the most success. Though it would be nice with a better story mode, for when you're not in the mood for some online games IMHO.
