Halo 3

I was just wondering what people were currently thinking about with all the hype and reputation of the new Halo. Is it going to be one of the best games ever? or its dramatically overrated

Post your thoughts...

Halo 2 was terribly overrated and the story of the game, which i always felt was the real driving ***** behind it, was amazingly under developed. I hope they learn the lesson of sacrificing the single player element for the multiplayer and spend the time developing the storyline to its seemingly looming finale. For the time being I'm not that excited about it, yes I am a huge fan of it, but I was so disapointed by the sequel Im not holding my breath in case of another pitfall.

I don't think Halo 2 was terribly overrated... but it was overrated. There were allot of aspects of Halo 1 which I liked that were lost in Halo 2. But, there are a few things in Halo 2 that were not in the first which I liked allot, as well.
As for the single player element... since Microsoft[/I] developed its Live component for Halo 2, the single player aspect doesn't need to be very strong. It's not where most of the replay value will come from (for both consumers and marketers). That's not to say that good and awesome single player story and game-play wouldn't make Halo better and more desireable, but it's not why I ever played Halo. Sure I did play Single player and co-op., but only to get better for when I would go on Live or played against my friends.

I think that if the developers of Halo know what most people liked about the first and second games, they can easily make Halo 3 better than both of it's prequels.

I cancelled my membership to live last month because I was tired of playing online with immature 12 year olds who think they have lease to sing because a mic is in front of there faces. Its the same with the live games, the achievement system means that only those with live will have any real chance of earning a feeling o accomplishment through the achievements. Look at perfect dark, NFS Carbon, even FEAR, all games that let down the single player massively. NFS Most Wanted I earned a clear 1,000 points, carbon I bust my ass to complete and earn 50! What the hell impact will 50 make on your score. I know halo 3 will be the same with the points syste, which is again unfair, I'd happily sacrifice live content for a story to a game I could sink my teeth into. As opposed to something like Chromehounds that is damn near designed for live exclusively but still has a flimsy single player section so you dont feel ripped off.

I'm pretty sure that Halo 3 will have a 50/50 ratio approximately for achievements ( online and single player ) . It's such a big game that will be played by a lot of xbox 360 owners that bungie can't possibly focus only on multiplayer for achievements . Also Halo 2 got critized a lot for the disapointing ending so i'm sure that Bungie is working hard on the single player aspect of the game so that doesn't happen again . :2 cents:

As for the annoying **** on xbox live , I don't mind them because I rarely plug in my headset .

I can understand. I love a good story in a game, and how the game isplayed is always important. One of my all time favorite games is Deus Ex, along with Half Life 2. Halo to me has been more about it's multi-player gameplay. And maybe that's part of it...Halo is a not a computer came but a console video game. I have always felt video games for the popular consoles (Ninitedo, Playstation, Xbox, etc.) are for multi-player gaming, while PC games are single-player. But as I said, I understand; and I hope that Halo 3 is all it's hyped up to be!
:spump:

i believe its going to be amazing. i got crackdown just for th beta

I get so tired of people bragging about that. If you have bought crackdown to play it exclusively then fine, but rushing out to buy it just for the halo beta is one of the dumbest things ive ever heard. Its not like it validates you as a halo fan, "Ooh look I have the beta", Who even cares? I dont like the look of crackdown, seems to much like a 360 version of the GTA series (Not to mention the near embarassing plotline) and how ever much I like halo personally, youd have to be handing it out freely for me to be interested in it.

I only played part of Halo 1 once and only ever played split-screen 4 player death match type **** on Halo 2. I only had a PS2, but now that I have a 360 I'm looking forward to Halo 3. However, I still say it's being over hyped! Now GAW2, that's a game I for one will be hyping the **** out of!

**** I meant GOW

The beta is going to start on may 16 th :D

then I need to get the set up package for live with the wireless adaptor and at least rent crackdown before the 16th of may? That's gonna cut into my LCD HD TV savings fund

Wah?

Crackdown is pretty fun until you beat it. Don't knock it until you try.

Also, 360 is getting GTA4 anyways.
