So if Google will block ads, do they also claim that there will be any fewer ads?

Racing is life... anything else is just waiting.
What ads would get blocked? The ones not sold by Google, for the most part.

Well, there ya go.

Why is that?

Google, a data mining and extraction company that sells personal information to advertisers, has hit upon a neat idea to consolidate its already-dominant business: block competitors from appearing on its platforms.

The ads blocked would match the standards produced by the Coalition for Better Ads, an ostensibly third-party group.

But who’s part of the Coalition for Better Ads? Google, for one, as well as Facebook.

So again, there ya go.

But Google's motto is "Don't Be Evil", right?

Not anymore.

Better to use a third party adblocker like AdBlock Plus and/or Adguard.
Googles adblocker will only be implemented next year in Chrome, and supposedly with an option to disable it.

"The ad blocker — which Google is calling a “filter” — would roll out next year, and would be the default setting for Chrome when fully functional."

Google needs a competitor or 2 or 3. We'll all be bowing down to our overlords before we know it.

Well at least Google is all colorful and fun, if we're gonna be subjected to a tyrannical corporate overlord they may as well be fun and benevolent in appearance at least! I'm optimistically hoping for a Brave New World style dystopia if we must go that way ;)

I'm sure most would know to stay clear of that "blocker". Why does so many use chrome? Surerly people cant care much about privacy.
