Google Earth Picture Thread

Sorry, I meant to say 60' stones. You can see from the picture they are huge. Some much taller too.

There's a base jumping cliff face in Patagonia, but I don't know of the "Pit of the Swallows" in Mexico.

Just about everytime they show sat. pictures in Iraq, or that site in N. Korea where the bomb test was, you'll see the Google logo.

The cave I speak of is the one they found the huge spider in the movie Arachnophobia!

This is a nice thread. Thanks for the pictures :)

We can only hope Miss Love, we can only hope!;)
They already do.

Here's a question: When American spy sats orbit overhead, do you think they turn off the cameras just when they go over the US?

I know that the NRO has used cameras so sensitive that they can tell the colour of your hair and how many stars are on your shoulder boards from space! Hell - this was back in the 70s/80s! Technology is certainly better now - they can probably read newsprint from up there.

The trick ofcourse, is having effective coverage.

And wheather the military will be willing to share the information with civillian operators - which might slowly become moot with the creation of DHS.

cheers,

I think the coverage is spotty, in some places more then others. I don't see a particular difference between US sites and anywhere else in general.

I was of the impression in the 80's that radar was the new imaging system of choice, but can't say for sure if that's what were seeing daily on the news and through Google Earth.

Hey AFA the name of that crater is Premium Link Upgrade if you were curious!

I was looking for the name, thanks.

I even looked on that page. There was a story about it, with pictures from the water of the mountain in the middle on PBS some time ago.

dumb question maybe... But how do you copy/paste coordinates?

It's a bit of a pain.

What I do is click properties on a pushpin I set up.

Then I drag the title into the comments box, hit return.

Then I drag the Latitude below that, make a space.

Then I drag the Longitude next to that.

I highlight and copy the two lines, and then click cancel to close the properties box without saving the changes.
