I don't know much about german polictics but for the germans to have re-elected her 3 times in a row (2009, 2013, 2018), I think she's been a good leader for Germany.

Think about it : she has seen 4 different US Presidents : Bush Jr, Obama, Trump and Biden. She had to fight the 2008 financial crisis, the 2015 migrants crisis, Brexit, The Covid pandemic, etc...

I'm not speaking about any personal political preference for her, but for years now she has been the de facto "Leader of the Free World" considering the USA abandoned any notion of taking responsibility for the title.

Well certainly from 2016 to 2020. The book is still out on Biden.

Pretty crazy that she's been in office so long that there's only 1 previous Chancellor still alive today.

And apparently she wanted to retire, but only stuck around for the last couple of years due to trump's election.
