GG Allin: yey or nay?

I'm not a fan of his music, but I respect his complete lack of giving a fuck. It was pretty heroic while it lasted. I'm glad he died instead of getting older and chaning his ways and doing a butter commercial (HEEELLOOOO JOHNNY ROTTEN!)
You got a point Spleen. I saw a documentary about Perry Farrell on tv and it showed how he was one of the wildest frontmen ever and then they showed him now. He has become a suit. What he was and stood for twenty years ago and what he has become are miles apart, but I guess everyone has to grow up sometime.

It's not so much about growing up as it is about staying alive. At some point, these types must change their lifestyle or it kills them.

Doesn't that giving in completely destroy the philosophy they are promoting to begin with?

It starts to sound like:

"FUCK THE MAN YEAH, THINK FOR YOURSELF,....until you're to old and tired or just want some comfort in lifel....FUCK YEAH /flex"

In other words "Staying alive" trumps any principles one might have or endorse.

It has nothing to do with philosophy. A man in his 30's / 40's can't carry on like an 18 year old. It's that simple.

So this has to do purely with age, and not growing older/becoming a part of what was railed against?

To use the punk vernacular, "selling out".

Like having DK songs appear in video games and Levi's then ditching Jello for a tour after law suits, or the buzzcocks AARP commercial, or Iggy Pop selling life insurance.

or like Big Poppa said
