Wow. i read that 4 times. Thanks.
I have been reading the Wiki page, trying to get as much back story as i can ( Thats why i understood what you wrote).
Knowing the back story makes the show so much better,
So , Lyanna may have voluntarily left Robert for Rhaegar, wow.
And I don't blame the Martells for hating the Lannisters for that, it wasn't necessary at all. but then again i guess they had to kill Rhaegars children.
So Tywin wanted his daughter to marry Rhaegar? Bad move by the Mad King rejecting it. If they had been married everything would be different now.
Crazy story. So much info. It's actually a challenge trying to keep it all organized in my brain, even more than the actual British history pre Cromwell.
But its fun.

And whats all this then about the Targaryens? Dont tell me.

"If she had only married Rhaegar as the gods intended, he would never have looked twice at the wolf girl. Rhaegar would be our king today and I would be his queen, the mother of his sons." - Cersei chapter from A Feast For Crows.

Cersei believes that her beauty would have prevented Rhaegar abducting/eloping with Lyanna Stark. Robert would have married Lyanna, Catelyn would have married Brandon Stark, Jon Arryn would probably still be alive and the Vale would be under rule of someone full grown and healthy (Jon's nephew Elbert was one of Brandon's men that was executed by the Mad King). Targaryen and Lannister would rule, Starks Baratheons and Arryns would be Best Fucking Friends Forever, probably Tyrells as well due to Renly and Loras being very good friends (it is not made explicit in the books that they are lovers like it is on TV, though most of the major characters suspect they are).

There would have been no bastards of twincest, that's for sure. Nor Jon_Snow. Robert wouldn't have fucked around, so enamoured was he with Lyanna, and likely would have stayed fierce and strong instead of becoming a fat drunkard. Catelyn's children with Brandon would have been different to Robb, Sansa, Bran, Arya and Rickon. Stannis would still be at Storm's End rather than cold and miserable at Dragonstone seeking solace in a red priestess. Assuming Queen Rhaella had still given birth to Dany, her and Viserys would probably be at Dragonstone, married. Balon Greyjoy certainly might never have rebelled against the throne with a Targaryen sat on it, Theon's brothers would still be alive, he'd have never been taken as a ward of Winterfell and probably wouldn't be such a twat.

Oh, and Dorne would be left to itself, not concerned with the matters of the other six kingdoms, largely as it had been since the days of Aegon The Conqueror.

yeah that's pretty much it. no holes in that summary.
I am a bit confused about Jon and Robb .
If during the war Eddard had Jon and brought him back to his wife Catelyn after the war, then they must have already been married.
Also Robb seems a little older than Jon.
Maybe some time went by between Brandons death and Robert starting the war, at least enough for Ed and Cat to get married and have Robby.

Robb and Jon are virtually the same age. Practically as soon as Brandon was killed, Lord Hoster Tully wanted to strengthen and solidify the alliance between their house and the Starks (as well as the Arryns who had also been bereaved on the orders of the Mad King, hence Lysa marrying Jon Arryn) so told Catelyn she would now marry Ned instead. She had never met Lord Eddard before the wedding day. There was literally enough time for a wedding and bedding, and then Ned and Robert were marching off to the Reach with all their bannermen. The following line from a Catelyn chapter in ASOS implies that the wedding night was the only time before Ned left they were together
:)bedbounce:)

"Even when he took her maidenhood, their love had more of duty to it than of passion. We made Robb that night, though; we made a king together."

Basically they got married, went bump in the night once which resulted in Cat falling pregnant with Robb, and when Lord Stark returned home approx two years after he left, he brought Jon with him, who was of an age with Robb.

hope im not on my when i say the second episode of season 3 was pretty boring i was dissapointed :crying:

Yeah they really didn't start the season off with a bang so far. It seems like they might be taking some luxuries with their high ratings and saving the good stuff after some story/character building.

To be fair, the very first series felt a bit like nothing happened until five episodes in. A lot of what's happened so far has been really necessary, and a combination of making you care about things that happen later - and I don't mean just later on in series 3 but beyond as well - and some awesome foreshadowing of stuff to come for those of us that have read the books. Trust me, your jaw will drop before the end of this series.

I really thought the scene where Lady Olenna and Margaery ask Sansa about Joff's true personality was perfectly balanced in terms of "is this genuine or is Sansa being played" as a lot of scenes were (the scenes with any combination of Margaery and/or Loras with Joffrey and/or Cersei are superb and laced with clever implications) and Dame Diana was great. Exactly how I imagined The Queen Of Thorns. As were the Reeds, in fairness.

Game of Thrones and Led Zeppelin = Awesome.

This is to all the book readers:

That was really funny.

I freely admit, I piss off the kind of people that the video sends up : I'll happy sit chatting away with anyone that's read the first 5 books and everything will be fine. Then they'll ask me how frustrating the wait for Dance was, and I say "I don't know. I watched the first series of the show and liked it, so I went and read all the books after it finished." The atmosphere changes in an instant! Suddenly I go from being the coolest guy they've ever met, to white dogshit!

Been re-watching season 2.
Theon, kinds feel sorry for him.
he was given away when he was a kid, then he returns and his father and sister treat him like crap.
He was right to want to ally with the wolves rather than fight them, but he had to make a choice. Give up his title and inheritance and go find Robb or fight against him.
kind of a tough spot to be in.
I assume his captors now are the Starks, but I'm not sure.
Poor Theon, can't win for losin

Fuck him. No amount of traumatic childhood excuses his atrocities at Winterfell. He's a cunt. And if he thought he had any chance of equalling Asha/Yara's respect from daddy, he's an idiot too. He should have ran for the wall when he had chance. You couldn't have picked a better gif to illustrate how desperate he is to be thought of as a bigger deal than he actually is ; he'd rather die a fool's death fighting a pointless battle than run away and live. But then, viewers of the show already know about his delusions of grandeur from the way he spoke of his perceived nobility to the bloke who met him off the boat ("I'll find ya a horse" LOL), the way he talked to Ros and the way he made Osha call him "my lord." Product of his upbringing he may be, but in the words of Bronn, "there's no cure for being a cunt."

I assume his captors now are the Starks, but I'm not sure.

Yeah, don't be sure. Remember Robb telling Lord Bolton last series "we aren't torturing prisoners" after the battle with Stafford Lannister's men? It's not his way. Actually, you might remember what scene I'm on about better if I say "moments before Talisa sawed the boy's foot off."

I haven't seen the episode yet but one or two comments on Facebook have given away what point we're up to..... poor Jaime. ;)
