Future of Heavy Metal-music?

It will sink.

People want to listen to pop-music.

That was my estimation, but I hope I'm wrong.

The band that destroyed the street credibility of Heavy Metal:

Exactly. The future of Metal is the same as its past. Sappy ballads and love songs to get someone besides 14y/o virgins to occasionally listen to them

The only problem is most of the budget would be for security against ISIS, Taliban, etc.

Since when have the likes of Posion, Cinderella & Extreme been Heavy Metal?

I don't know how old you are, but yes, in their day they were considered Metal. Later on they were amended to "Hair" bands and "Glam" rock. But they were considered and called Heavy Metal bands originally. Those were dark days my friend. Dark days indeed.

I don't think that Heavy Metal (or any other sort of music) is in any danger of not being performedor enjoyed any more. There will always be lots of kids that want to get a band together and play it.

What you seem to mean is: Will it ever be The Big Thing it was for some time. I think it will rise its head again and again, yet only as long as bell bottom jeans, fur vests or lava lamps

When everyone can record and produce and publish his music at home, thereis no needdfor big companies to be involved.

Led Zeppelin took the US over just by touring and mouth to mouth propaganda. If you're good, and you play a lot of great gigs, you're going to get noticed by crowds and you will do just fine.

wow, this thread got hijacked really, really fast, lol!

Before grunge a lot of stuff got labeled "Heavy Metal", and I suppose each in its own way was, particularly if you got your music news from Hit Parader or Circus magazine. Looking back, I listened to mostly progressive metal and thrash and their heyday has long since faded.

They say that the best metal bands come from nordic countries, but in Finland this kind music is popular amongst kindergarten aged children. Once people grow to adults they start to listen pop music and other better genres...

When you come from a country where this is known music genre for babies, will only laugh at you. This is like seeing men driving toy cars. People like Assari will think of you as crazymen when they see grown up men listening that unmelodic misusage of musical instruments. One can never take people who plays metal seriously, specially when a man looks like a woman who had her hairdryer exploded on her face with all that messy black death metal makeup and long hair...

Two points in bold....

"Pop music" has disqualified you from discussing this topic.

Heavy metal music can be melodic as fuck. Yngwie Malmsteen, Dokken with George Lynch just to name a few.
