Fuck Ticketmaster

Does anybody here go to concerts frequently? I use to, until I got fed up with their service fees, convenience fees, print at home fees, taxes, etc. They advertise $20 tickets, but at the checkout, they've added almost $12 onto the ticket price, and that's just general admission for a relatively unknown indie band. What about the good seats at a Stones show? Or a big name comedian? If you buy a couple tickets for you and your lady or some friends, you're pushing $250, and that's before drinks, food, souvenirs, etc.

But wait! Ticketmaster has heard our cries. Thank the lord!!

Uhmm. What? Nothing is actually changing? They're just going to tell us how much we'll be paying before checkout now? So instead of paying $30 for Minus The Bear, they're telling me straight up I'll be paying $45?? Sic!! Thanks Ticketmaster! I've always wanted a breakdown of what the fuck I was paying for.

Wait a second. $2.50 print-at-home fee? I have to pay a fee to print the ticket on my own paper, with my own ink??

$45 is the same as $20 + $5 + $5 + $10 + $2.50 + $2.50

I'll never go to a Ticketmaster show again. And that sucks. :(

Ticketmaster killed a lot of concert going for me. Fortunately there are almost always ways around Ticketmaster.

Fuck them? Yes. Yes I will.

Most of the big venues within travelling distance are all under contract by Ticketmaster. Sucks ass. I might start emailing the artists, telling them I would have went to their show had they not been promoted by TM. I know Bruce Springsteen, Trent Reznor and others have spoke out against TM, and sold their tickets another way, so hopefully it helps. I doubt it though.

The secret is contacting their agents, and getting put on a list. Then Ticketmaster is fucked. And all the agents and shit are available online.

The artists, agents and producers are all against Ticketmaster. Unfortunately, I can say for certain that Ticketmaster makes life SO MUCH easier for the venues, so don't expect changes any time soon.

However, I still bare my corn hole in their general direction.

Hey man, Pearl Jam did their part back in '94 and no one helped them out. Just like when Zappa, Dee Snyder and John Denver testified against the PMRC, and no one else stepped forward. These two events taught me everything I need to know about these so-called bad asses in rock, punk and hip-hop. They're all pussies and I don't spend my money on pussies. Uhhmmmm.....Wait a minute......

I haven't gone to a concert in a long time (except for bands I'm friends with) and Ticketmaster is the main reason. Just another big corporation that can suck a broken glass cock.

I don't know if you've got one near you, but when I went to see Paul McCartney in July, I got the tickets online through FYE and they waived all the fees in exchange for me picking them up from the store near my house. Granted, this is all moot if you don't have an FYE near you, or if you just get the tickets in store in the first place, (for some nebulous reason they charge a convenience fee if you do) but I'd recommend it.

Your absolutely right. Most artists don't give a rats ass about their fans as long as they get their paychecks.

Pearl Jam are my favourite band and I remember their fight in the mid-90's. They even tried to do a tour without Ticketmaster and ended up having to physically build venues in some places (i.e. stages in the middle of nowhere), organize security, parking, etc. all by themselves. At the end of the day, they had to go back to Ticketmaster venues because it was just way too hard to do it the other way.

They say Ticketmaster is not a monopoly but everyone with half a brain knows that they are (i.e. I think they own Live Nation and some other "alterative" ticketing companies).

The last time I looked at tickets on Ticketmaster the ticket was $50 and the service and conveniance charge was $25. Now I go to the box office and save the fees.

Ticketmaster merged with Live Nation this year. They also own SFX Entertainment which owns a shitload of venues in the U.S, House of Blues, and have artists such as U2, Jay Zed, Madonna, Shakira and Nickleback signed to their label.

they've fucked me enough, its about time i get some!

08 metallica: tickmaster fees were $37ea.

if i can avoid them, ill go out my way
