Couple responses to that idea.
We would probably have to bring back the draft to do that.In reading about the shooter at Ft. Hood they not only were deploying a muslim but one who had spoken out against the wars.The reason speculated that he was still being deployed is that they (the army) have a severe shortage of people like him they can send so were willing to hope it would all work out and overlook what some were calling anti american rants.
And think about this, in WW2 a lot of people with german roots were in the US military including a future President and the man responsible for the conduct of the war in europe (Eisenhower).And if we are just going by religious roots then all christians would have been excluded as thats who we were fighting in europe,people with christian roots.That would have left us very few people available.Even some japanease-americans who being a smaller group could be handled differently (like the ones in the west who were sent to interment camps for the duration) were eventually allowed to be in the american military and as far as I know not only were a not loyalty problem but performed with great valor in some cases.
You can't judge the loyalty of a people by this one guys actions.He is an aboration.

FOBBIT is a derogatory term for the current Middle Eastern Theatres of operation, similar to the 'REMF's of Vietnam (Rear Echelon MotherF#$%er)...
Wickipedia describes it as a combination of FOB (Forward Ooperating base) & JRR Tolkein's Hobbit, referring to personnel stationed at the 'secure' base and afraid/unwilling to leave it's confines.
Gotta love it when the armchair QB's the news orgs field have ZERO real world wisdom.
Whole epidose at Ft Hood is tragic; it's been galling to hear the 'amazement' of news orgs that the first repsonders who arrived while the shooting was going on 'performed in a calm manner.' WTF?!?! They are TRAINED to work under fire, you twits!
