A German footballer has escaped being shown a red card after accidentally groping female referee Bibiana Steinhaus during a Bundesliga game.

Peter Niemeyer was caught on camera touching Bibiana Steinhaus' left breast during the match
Hertha Berlin defender Peter Niemeyer was caught on camera touching Steinhaus’ left breast during the match against Alemania Aachen earlier this week.
Luckily for Niemeyer, the 31-year-old official laughed off the incident after initially raising her eyebrow at the player.
The defender apologised straight away and, speaking after the game, said: ‘She was standing a bit further away than I thought.
‘I meant to give her a pat on the back.’
The match was Steinhaus’ first televised game as a referee and one she won’t forget in a hurry.
The fixture itself ended 0-0 with Niemeyer’s inappropriate grab undoubtedly the highlight.
