I cannot express how awesome it would be if you saw a bunch of chibi-style Fox News anchors marching out of your bedroom, a floating Neocon sign, and Bill O'Reilly coming out of your couch and grabbing you, trying to swallow you whole in your own couch.

I got pretty messed up on some strong Ecstacy a few years back, and years before that I did 'shrooms a couple times. That **** can be really intense if you don't watch the dose you take. I have some best friends that are pros when it comes to droppin' acid. They used to do it quite a bit. My boy Dave like acid but tried some pretty heavy ecstacy once and freaked out. Go figure. They get like liquid micro-dot, like the acid in liquid form, in a squeeze bottle, and drop it in their eyes. I never had the balls.
Bottom line: if you have a strong mind it will not be a problem, but if you don't you could wind up thinking you're a potatoe chip, like some fruit over here years ago did when he smuggled a sheet in his sock and, yeah, well, you get the picture...
Another thing I found was that when I had a semi-bad trip on 'shrooms was that having a good bottle of hard ****** - some good Jim Beam or otherwise -helps to aleviate and unwanted chemistry you might have when you drop. That's just my 2 cents, but I think it calmed me big time.
If I were you I'd try like a half a pill of some decent ecstacy first or even a low dose of shrooms just to get a feel for it. If you want to totally FUCK your life for good, try some oxy's (heroin for beginners) and in due time you will be shootin' up that hair-owe'on.

Be careful of the setting and your frame of mind as FOMM said and it can be a very enlightening and spiritual experience. I must warn you however....it ain't for everybody and some people just plain aren't mentally or emotionally capable of handling it so be very, very careful about the atmosphere surrounding your first trip. There is always a possibility that you may not like it so be in a safe place surrounded by people you trust in case things go badly.
One other piece of advice: I absolutely WOULD NOT recommend using LSD (or mescaline, psilocybin, peyote or any other hallucinogen) as a **** to be used as a means of escape as it is going to greatly accentuate your awareness of the realities of your life rather than dull them or make them seem more distant or less relevant. Quite the contrary. If you want to escape, don't do acid.

The true thing about acid is...there are no cliches about LSD.
Some chemists do the process better than others, and some have better processes than others (see Owsley); different people react to acid, weed, *******, and girlfriends differently and will have varied reactions.
The most common determining thing I found is the person taking the hit...and the dose to a lesser degree.
In the early '70s I did a bit of volunteer work on a hotline for druggies freaking out at home or somewhere near a phone...I brought many down easily using verbal cues, and some had to be rescued, but the one thing all had in common was the LSD was a mental thing, you can control the reaction you have to whatever level of stimulation you experience.
I ate 6 freshly plucked from a Texas cowpasture psylocibin mushrooms once...and I was in Sgt. Pepperland for hours...actually pretty cool.
LSD never had anywhere near that effect on me the many times I partied with friends or by myself on 1 or 5 hits ...I brought 200 hits of Clear Light to a small Israeli town once, and every traveler and counter-culture boy and girl had the BEST time...people were sitting there smiling to themselves or at each other...all night. There was a glow emanating from the Dead Sea Cafe you could see. So...
Do what you want, see what happens. If you're a total weak-minded flake, you may work through it, or lose your safety switch and go all the way into psychosis-ville.

Yeah, my ****** tried that **** on me when I first took a serious hit of Ex and it sort of worked. When someone goes off on a bad one you're supposed to tell them stuff like that - their name, their parents' names - stuff like that.

Fuck ACID dude, the **** out there is probably bunk and you will get a bad trip or worse. You should try shrooms instead. :spin:
One thing to remember is that the acid is the **** in charge - you can ***** like a demon when you are on it and you won't fall ****** or feel the effects of the *****. Stay away from the ale. It will just fuck up your body. Same for anyone who likes to take the edge of with a joint at the same time. Stay with the one ****. You don't want to be coming down and having the worst hangover of your life at the same time.
Like everyone else says stay away from stressful people and places. If you have pals who like to pull pranks on each other when they are out of it stay the fuck away from them.
Lastly if you are a person who gets frustrated by lack of control this is not your ****. Once it kicks in are just along for the ride.
