FIFA Scandal

An organisation with some excellent corruption allegations, second only to the Catholic church in terms of dishonest and fraudulent acts.

I've seen a few mentions of this in American press so far, I am curious how much traction it will get here as Americans aren't nearly as into soccer as the rest of the world.

Is anyone actually surprised by this? I live in Canada and could smell the rot from here.

The first video above was uploaded to youtube last year, and it's been widely know for many years that FiFA members took bribes.
Two reasons why they have been charged now, first because America wanted the world cup in 2022 and Qatar bribed FIFA members.
The second is the West trying to prevent the 2018 World Cup in Russia as a way to punish Putin for invading Ukraine.
It's all about politics and money aka economic warfare.

the president of FIFA has refused to step down and will be running for reelection

he has been elected 4 times, I wonder how many millions does he have stash away.

This is how bad soccer sucks. I played soccer in high school. Excelled in the sport, Had more than my share of goals scored and quite a few were game winners. With all that personal history and the enjoyment that I had playing the sport, I would rather watch paint dry than sit through a match as a spectator.

Two front page articles in the San Jose Mercury News so far, but I would say the area is into Soccer.

Never was a fan of soccer because the field is too big, cut it to half the size and soccer would be faster and more fun to watch.
The only soccer game I enjoyed was indoors in a hockey rink sized field. It was fast, a few spectators got hit with the ball and the game ended with a score of 8 to 5.

Not only is regular soccer too slow, but the fake dives are annoying to watch, so I only watch the highlights on the news or youtube.
Maybe I'll watch soccer if they add cool FX like these:

Blatter has no dignity he should resign even if re-elected. Not a strong leader if he doesn't know what's going on in his own organisation especially if it's been going on since 1991

Clint Dempsey is from Nacogdoches, a stone's throw away from my Home-20 and where I went to college, this story definitely has some local interest stirred up.

Racing is life... anything else is just waiting.
I got a kick out of hearing about the guy who had been a kid's soccer coach and rose to be the secretary of the organization. I don't recall his name right now. But he's the one who ran up a $20 million plus credit card debt and stuffed an equal amount in his pockets over the years. I think he's an American. The guy who cooperated and wore a wire... which is what brought down this corrupt house of cards.

I thought Bernie Ecclestone was crooked. Damn, these guys could actually teach Bernie an advanced class on being a crook!

Oh, and it was just on CNBC that what's his name has been re-elected, since the other guy just stepped aside.

That asshole Blatter just got reelected. I can't say it is a shock.

Blatter has obviously promised money and more World Cups for regions like Asia and Africa. In return they back him to the tilt. So even with UEFA's power and voting against him, the sheer number of votes coming out of Asia and Africa means he is safe.....for now. Still think UEFA should have boycotted the vote, it would have shown some balls, taking a stance and making the vote a farce. Whether Blatter will ever get pushed out or not will remain to be seen. While maybe not directly responsible for the corruption, I doubt he didn't know it was going on. Therefore while he is there FIFA can't remain credible. Also it would help if FIFA's sponsors pulled their support, but then McDonalds, Coca-Cola and Adidas aren't exactly squeaky clean when it comes to ethics either......

All those men from third-world countries get their nice share of the big money so they live a carefree life, come to Switzerland every once in a while, have a couple grand dys, get pampered and bribed a little more and vote like the patrone says. And Sepp Blatter is VERFY hard to nail down personally, as he himself does not use email or cell phone. All eye-to-eye, and I am sure he has his way of talking around what he exactly means so even a wired man could get no direct proof.

He is the ultimate godfather or sports
