Any Afghanistan vets here?
Did you run across any Kootchi dogs there?
The Afghan gypsies (Kootchis) have a breed not ever for sale, brindle color, and one of the most impressive dogs I've ever met. Head almost the size of a St Bernard, medium size, ready and able to take on a Siberian wolf or two.
They only give them to family and sometimes friends, keep the bloodline in their heads.
I want one, someday I want to find a way to get a few back here.

Beagles

Beagles are cute, but doesn't their tendency to howl at every other dog and tear off at every scent trail drive you insane? I can't even count how many times I've had to go searching through the neighborhood and woods for this stupid dog...

[EDIT] BTW... beautiful sig!!!!!!!!!!

I am unfamiliar with those breed names...where are they from?

Berner senner is breed from Switzerland originally ...

Leonberger is breed from Germany ...

It's the same size as a newfoundlander, but much nicer for kids ... my kids (6 and 4) ride on him like on a pony ... he adorse his family, but i didn't want to make him a guarddog ... If i walk with him at the sea, all people go away, he looks very dangerous but he is very softhearted ...

here are a few more ...

he's still young over here (4 months, he's 1 1/2 year now, he's way bigger now but surrounded with family and friends, whoms privacy i respect) if you want i'll take more recent pictures from him ...

Conspiracy...
I like cats and dogs. :D

The small dog at my home is a Springer mixed with something, I'm not sure.
My sister's dogs are German Shepard/ Collie mix. Something like this.
German Shepherd Collie mix
I forget what the other one is.

I like these breeds too:
Akita
Mastiff
Beagle
Alaskan Husky
Basset Hound
Saint Bernard (Beethoven) :D

I'll eventually listen almost every breed, so I will stop here.

Big Dogs: Huskies
Small Dogs: Smooth Mini Dachshunds

Yeah...sister has an American Eskimo, similar to a Husky. Very cool dogs, smooth with people and strong.
I raised/bred/trained Dobermans for years...and Dachshunds are Dobies with short legs. Balls of steel, smart and good to their family.

I'm a Rottweiler fan

Unless somebody has a specific use for a dog, like for hunting or guarding for example, it's usually better just to get a mutt. They are often smarter, have less diseases and genetic defects, and you don't have to worry about inbreeding. Plus, they are cheap and plentiful and no further away than the local dog pound.

I definitely agree. More important that specific breed, it is most important to me that a dog be affectionate, loyal and like to play and like attention.

If I had to pick a breed, I would pick Labrador Retriever. Since they are a popular breed, many Lab mixes can often be found at the pound. That's where I found mine. A Lab/pointer mix. Though she was a mutt, she was a good bird-hunting dog before my father and I retired from that sport, and she was always a loving family pet.

shepherds, goldens, labs, malamutes and mutts

the only breed I don't care for is akitas. all 3 that I've known have been stupid and violent.

Back in the day, I had two dogs (not at the time) that I loved very much.

One was a cream husky and the other was a black German shepherd. I miss them. :(
