What, female vocalists, top the list as being your favorites?

Here are my choices: Siouxsie Sioux (Siouxsie and the Banshees), Kate Pearson (The B-52's).

Both excellent choices.
I'd like to add Allison Goldfrapp,Sarah Nixey,Sarah Blackwood,Miss Kittin and Peaches

I like Amy Lee of Evanescence. The music's not your average nu-metal rock, since it blends elements of pop and classical. She's gained a few pounds since the release of The Open Door, but before that she looked a *lot* like Chloe Dior (my avatar). If you've got an Amy Lee fantasy, CD videos are worth watching! She's an excellent vocalist too. I met her in London briefly when they played here at the end of last year, and she actually seemed genuinely sweet and friendly, unlike most rock stars you come across.

For anyone who's not heard Lacuna Coil before, here they are: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AwcIkH2GSz4
Christina Scabbia is hot like wasabi. It's damn impressive if you ask me -- not easy to sing that live.

Lacuna Coil's 'Unspoken' (acoustic): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ipaXCJhj0TY

I also like Sharon Van Adel of Within Temptation, Tarja (ex Nightwish), Gwen Stefani, Alanis, and purely on looks, all three sisters in The Corrs!

Here are my choices: Siouxsie Sioux (Siouxsie and the Banshees), Kate Pearson (The B-52's).

I apologize for my spelling-mistake, the name of the vocalist from, ‘The B-52’s:’ is Kate Pierson. From her bubbly, bimbo-ish, captivating, and exhilarating voice: she makes me reminisce about my paradise-like times on the beach while surfing with my three-cousins, without a worry in the world, just going from one hedonistic and adventurous wave to the other.

The songs from, ‘The B-52’s,’ are totally awesome for parties, and beach-going. I have never-really encountered a more positive-sounding, band. Some of their songs also make me reminisce about all of the ultra-feminine, and totally angel-like: blonde-haired, and blue eyed, toddlers, and babies that I would see at Disney-World with their jovial, and playful-innocence: they made the atmosphere almost-like, ‘heaven.’

Siouxsie Sioux, was involved in creating, what I consider, to be the most sexy-song ever: ‘Face to Face,’ for the ‘Batman Returns,’ soundtrack. She created it with the renowned, movie-composer: Danny Elfman. It was a lethal-combination, together. I cannot fathom, how much, I appreciate the latent-eccentricity, of that band.

Sinead o*Connor. She has a wonderful voice! (I don't necessary agree with her political views). She has recorded a reggeae album, Throw down your arms, which is brilliant!

There are also several "blck voices" in soul and R'n'B. W Houston USED to have a great voice! Ella Fitzgerald...

This may not be a 'hip' choice, but Karen Carpenter had one of the most gentle and soothing voices that I've ever heard..

So tragic that she died so young.
