Fantastic4: Rise of the Silver Surfer

Did anyone else notice how the CGI they used for the Surfer resembled the CGI for Terminator 2's liquid robot??

Saw it today and I really enjoyed it. Message to fanboys:Get over it, it's a fucking movie. It was entertaining and was never boring. Oh, and by the way, it's a comic book movie for god's sake, you expect Shakespere?? I swear people take this shit way to seriously. Lighten up already it's just a movie.

well if I go to see Fantastic 4 2 or Spiderman 3 I expect to see some action scenes and instead I get fucking Peter Parker acting like a loser and crying over losing Mary Jane. When I watch a comic book movie I want action sequences that will make me think "thats cool!" and not "how sweet!".
Yeah, it's just a fucking movie, but it can also not bore me to death.

I'm sick of whining in superhero films, X Men, Spiderman, Superman, it's all
"I don't want to be a superhero"
"I want a normal life"
"I will not die a monster"

What I liked about FF, Blade, Punisher was a lack of hiding behind an alter-ego, a sort of get over it, you've got a job to do.

I liked Spiderman 2 when it was called Superman 2.

The first FF movie was fun, it entertained the hell out of me, Dr Doom was actually evil, he punched a hole through some guys chest and crushed a doctors throat! He was a better villain than ANY of Spiderman's enemies, or Superman's, even better than Ian McKellan with a bucket on his head!

I really want to see this movie, they can fuck up the comic as much as they want as long as I'm entertained by it!

Yea they may have under utilized the surfers character, but imo he was the most accurate portrayal of any comic character ive ever seen in any comic movie. Yea it was mainly cgi, but even the live segments of him looked great.

well the movie was called Rise of the Silver Surfer. not Rise of the relationships. It doesn't seem like too much to ask that the plot should kind of revolve around him. other than just, 'oh whos the silver dude flying around? The End.'

It's good to be the king...

I haven't read a comic for years - I just feel if one is going to adopt a storyline, treat one's audience with respect. I can understand copyright issues and difficulties in tranferring the story from a comic to the silver screen (the latter stated on the Watchmen thread).
But I can't help but feel irritated when I watch DA Harvey Dent portrayed as a black man in Batman (Billy Dee Williams) then a white man in Batman Forever (Tommy Lee Jones).

It's the same irritation I feel watching the "happy ending" on the 1954 Animal Farm cartoon:

**********SPOILER TEXT FOLLOWS***************
In Orwell's original book, the animals simply look on in dismay as they come to realise that the pig leaders are no better than the human masters they overthrew for a better life. However in a departure from Orwell's book, the film ends with the animals revolting against the pigs. John Halas, one half of the directing team, later reflected that the film needed the happier ending of counter-revolution, as it rewarded the audience for their emotional investment. However, in recent years evidence has come to light suggesting that the CIA covertly funded the film. If this is the case, then an ending showing counter-revolutionary forces would have been desirable.

I just wish they could do it right for a change. I love surfer and love the "Silver Surfer" comic run. My only huge complaint is the Galactus fuck up. He was the main reason for my interest. I just wanted to see a huge mass that was galactus running the show. I didnt want to see a damn love scene or anybody being emo. Thats what I get when I see a comic movie anymore.

Hey, that's the kind of crap that teens are into now adays and the studios don't seem to understand that the people who are most excited about classic comics being turned into movies are adults. people who grew up reading the comics. they're the ones who want to see the movie. instead, they're trying to appeal to all the brats out there that just want to see a hot bod on the screen and true love triumphing over all. it gives teens hope and allows them to connect with characters that they normally wouldn't give a damn about

I don't think anything should be an excuse to not make a movie as good as reasonably possible and as accurate to the original stoy as possible when it comes from something else. :1orglaugh

That’s like them making the Kingpin black in the Daredevil movie. In the comics not only is he white, sometimes he's so pale he looks like he's lived in a cave for the past two years. :1orglaugh I mean really the producers couldn’t find one big bulky bald white guy out there out of all the actors starving to get their first chance. Instead they go with Michael Clarke Duncan who is good in some movies, but I don't look at him and see the Kingpin.
