Iconic daredevil Evel Knievel dies at 69



CLEARWATER, Fla. - Evel Knievel, the red-white-and-blue-spangled motorcycle daredevil whose jumps over crazy obstacles including Greyhound buses, live sharks and Idaho's Snake River Canyon made him an international icon in the 1970s, died Friday. He was 69.

Like I said, balls of steel, crazy and maybe just a little bit of stupid thrown in! But regardless he was a great entertainer!

This sucks, he was such an icon for so many extreme sports and hobbies. RIP.

My most memorable moment of his is watching clips of the attempted jump over the fountain in Las Vegas. If I remember correctly he missed and pretty much broke every bone in his body. It looked horrific.

Damn shame he's gone. I had a few of those stunt cycles...the kind you cranked up, and launched. I remember my mom buying me the first one, and telling me I wasn't allowed to take it outside because it was expensive, and it would get broken, then yelling at me for playing with it in the house. She didn't how to act when I said to her, "well what good is it then, I thought toys were for playing with?"...or something to that effect.

The Grim Reaper finally caught up with him after years of trying (had to wait till he was old and slow, couldnt do it when he was young & fast )

He's always been close to my heart watching him as a kid wanting to be like him when i was older (got older and wiser & didn't like pain, so i thought Fuck It)
