I've been all over different parts of Manhattan and taken pictures, even upper Manhattan heading towards Harlem.
No one ever gave me any grief, although I wasn't stupid and got in their way either.

I live in Sweden, and it sucks to be honest. The clubs here are nothing but binge drinking and crappy music, at least what I've found. Also, people are not nearly as fun as they should be. The main problem being everyone's more focused on getting drunk than having fun and dancing. This is probably not unique for Sweden in any way but it's the sad truth.

I've been to Madrid, Rome, London and Paris already. Seen most of the stuff to be seen there and though enjoyable, this is not a tourist trip, more for the partying and relaxing.
Also, I'm not a totally into-it stoner, but I enjoy it and from what I've heard Amsterdam is a good club landscape -- and so the coffee shops would just be a plus. But then again London seem to have many good clubs too, like Ministry of Sound (don't bash me if this is a total douche-club or something, I've just heard it's a great place for club music).

Anyway, a lot of nice ideas and opinions, thanks a lot. Keep them coming.

First of all, those who didge or crap on belgium, don't know where to go ... with us you can have it all in one place (getting drunk, pot, girls, ...) just go out with the right people. Let a real belgian know what you want to have, not a nerd belgian (they don't go out and don't know shit of what happens in their hometown).
now it's my turn to crap on the other countries : highly overrated, cost you money and it is something you'll forget after a year.
Ever went to coffeeshop in A'dam where you look stoned at a tv that shows how they process the stuff. Nah over here you do that, looking at almost naked girls (depends on how ugly you are is their clothing) with a good beat in the back, ... just go out with real people ...
But if have got to say the big Mac in holland tastes the best if you are stoned ...

If you come from the US to Europe - enjoy some of the more liberal things to do there (not only smoking in the netherlands), f.e.:

- fkk-beaches
- public mixed sauna
- european television
- ...

Since the original poster posted his question in Juli 2008, I think he has gone to Europe (& back) by now. I just wanted to add a little detail for other people going to Europe (specifically the Netherlands).

Smoking pot in the Netherlands is not legal, it's condoned. There's little to no difference when you're only smoking small amounts of pot, but do buy it at the condoned coffee shops (& not some dealer in the streets, who will also try to sell you other stuff, which isn't condoned in the Netherlands) and do not buy more than 5 grams or have more than 5 grams on you at any given time.

If they catch you, You Might get into trouble with the law if you possess more than 5 grams or if you were dealing on the streets.

I've heard that Brussels is becoming the new Amsterdam.Lots of great beer,weed - if you know where to find it.Big Clubs too like Fuse which is one of Europe's best.As smut i'm sure there's plenty if you dig deep enough
