The worst England performance in memory. Congrats to Iceland on defending well, working hard and taking their chances.
Some England ratings just to emphasize how bad they were.
Hart 5 - Has to take some blame for the 2nd goal, his hands have been weak this tournament and its cost England, I think his position should be under threat.
Walker 6 - His worst game of the tournament, didn't make so many good attacks down the right as he did in previous games but still was probably one of the better players on the night and Englands best performer in the tournament.
Cahill 5 - Looked uncomfortable and could've been penalized for more fouls. Possibly his last England cap.
Smalling 6 - Really good at winning headers, really bad at directing headers anywhere near a teammate.
Rose 5 - I'd rather have Bertrand playing. Offered very little.
Dier 6 - Maybe Englands best player in the 1st half and he got subbed. We'll see a lot more of him in the future.
Rooney 3 - Was awful, he scored a penalty and then took the day off. Non league standard of play and was rightfully taken off. When your captain is this bad, the team suffers.
Alli 5 - Maybe a generous rating, decided his season was over in April and has been on holiday since. I'm confused when pundits have billed him as world class talent.
Sterling 6 - Controversial selection but he won the penalty and gave England width (something they sorely lacked after he got subbed). Still lacks the great pace people say he has and still ran into trouble too much.
Sturridge 1 - I'm a Liverpool fan but Sturridge was worthless and literally could've sat down all game and had the same impact. Only reason I'm giving a 1 instead of 0 was a good cross in the last minute of the game.
Kane 5 - Still shouldn't be taking set pieces, still on holiday like Alli. I predicted him to be top scorer in the whole tournament and he's been a massive let down.
Subs
Wilshere 5 - Was he even on the pitch? Tried some long balls which didn't come off.
Vardy 6 - Ran hard into channels and fought for the ball, something that was seriously lacking in some others.
Rashford 7 - He only played 5 mins and he was the best player. Took on the Icelands team but didn't quite get the end result. Maybe if he'd had longer on the pitch...
And finally...
Hodgson 4 - I don't disagree with the first 11 players he's picking but the players are playing much worse than they do at club level and the defence looks very shaky. I think it was poor judgement to take unfit players like Wilshere and Henderson to the tournament and England needed some variety in their forwards. Andy Carroll is perfect for England against teams that will defend deep and give no space. He was also in good form and clearly gives England another option. I also believe Townsend should've been in the starting 11 let alone the squad but apparently being England's best wide player isn't good enough.

Absolutely awful performance from England, Iceland easily deserved their win, we scored our penalty and that was about the only chance we had in the whole game.Hodgson resigns who would want to take over this load of rubbish.

THIS WAS NO FLUKE!!!!!!!!! Iceland dominated this game. They deserved the win and played better the last 86 minutes.

Yes, they deserved this. Now I hope they reach the finals (as Belgium is out and Portugal does not deserve to reach the finals due to no win yet inside the 90 minutes) but some players are suspended now. I'm afraid they cannot replace them that easily (Ramsey, Davies I believe)

The Belgian newspapers didn't go easy on our Belgian coach and some players openly criticized him as well. So it looks like his days are numbered.
