Error downloading codec

I always get this message when I try to play an avi file that I have downloaded from wtf? wtf? wtf? wtf? wtf? or Overnet. What does this mean and how do I fix it?

I'm guessing you use Windows Media Player ? ...and it doesn't play .avi-files correctly ?

Well I use Premium Link Upgrade and Premium Link Upgrade that should take care of it.

Latest ffdshow Premium Link Upgrade

Sometimes it's a broken file which Premium Link Upgrade will play.

Appreciate the help, but even after downloading those codec links to my C drive I still can't view avi or mov files. I can hear the audio, but all I get in terms of picture is a blue water screen, and the error downloading codec message. Any ideas?

Try this link, I originally had your problem but this sorted me out. Go for the full version of the K-Lite codec pack just incase!

Thanks I'll try that, one question though, do I still try to open the movie through Overnet, or do I do it through the K-lite site?
