Porn v. Addiction to Porn and what a "sin" is ...
I think you confuse "porn" with "addiction to porn." You also have a lot to learn about "sin."
Sin makes you do things against yourself and others. Sin is bad for society. Sin causes envy, pain, etc... Anything that feeds the seven deadly sins is bad for you.
But porn in moderation, with care for what happens to others, etc... is just natural sex. You are not sinning by jacking off. You are appeasing your programmed instinct.
Read up on the deadly sins of envy and lust. Lust itself is not a sin, it's when that lust causes you to do things. "Do not covet thy neighbors wife" actually spells this out as well.
Sex, lust and envy become sins because people take them to the point they blame or hurt others, and themselves, because they can't find a content place in the world. They think they deserve more than they have or want more than they earn.
Whether you masterbate or sleep around with many partners, as long as you are responsible sexually, can "leave it be" when it comes to your emotions, and always take consent as your first and foremost rule, even mid-session, you're fine.
It's when you addicted to porn or sex, don't seek continual consent, aren't happy and content with your partners or loneliness, that sin creeps in. In fact, I remember the statement about so many lonely people in the message.
Loneliness isn't caused by porn. Loneliness is caused by people not being content. Envy, lust and things become sins when people are not content. That causes them to believe they need more than they have, and them to excuse their actions against others.
People who cannot balance things in moderation, with the utmost consideration for others first'n foremost, need "defined sins" so they can avoid doing them. Those who see the obviousness of the truth do not, because they don't sin against others, much less themselves.
I'm looking forward to fucking my wife this weekend. Many have tried to make me "feel bad" about it, or guilted me with the "sins" of other men, the porn industry, etc... I can't change the world, I can only change how I approach it and how it affects me.
One gentleman complained the "God was cruel" in another thread because he could never have a woman like Jana Defi. I find Jana extremely and uniquely beautiful, and it looks like she would be an unbelievable lover. But I am more than content and more than blessed with my wife, and I don't need to question what I have.
But that's me. I'm more than content. I wish everyone could be content. People who are content are the ones that have great lives. It's really about finding peace with yourself. And that starts by not tresspassing against others.
Not some arbitrary, universal, absolute set of "sins" when how responsible or irresponsible, thoughtful or cruel, etc... a person is varies from person to person. Some people need "sins." Other people recognize them without the arbitrary tagging.
Enlightenment is the key. It's afforded far more in our day'n age of mass produced books and deeper educations. Back centuries ago, if you had one book, the Bible was it. I'm not one to "get my religion" from someone else's interpretation of it. In fact, it's sad that people are still doing that, in this day'n age of mass produced books and extensive education.
Goodbye.I am going to guess that there are tons of people who claim to be christian... go to church... live life day by day trying to improve on basic aspects of living using the principles found in the bible.
Yet, many of these people(me included) surf the web for porn and probably read the words I type here. I have been one of these people. Hypocritical... sure... you bet... that is my sin... what is yours?
Jesus once said, "Why do you call me Lord, and NOT do the things that I say?" He said it about the future.
For those of us who have knowledge of the Word of God and have found ourselves addicted to porn and the like... I implore you to repent with me now before it is too late. I have tossed off to Erica before... geeze... who here hasn't?
However, I am now convicted of this... when I die and stand before Christ at judgement... she may be entering the kingdom of heaven and I will be left trying to tell Christ why I would not repent.
I am done with porn now too.
