End The Violence [in Video Games].

Lets just hope this doesn't catch on anywhere outside of germany. I tell you this much. Shit like this would NOT fly here in the states!

Don't worry, it never will have a chance. It's been talked about for years, but ultimately, you can't censor things like that.

....Parental Advisory lyrics...don't get me started .

It looks like it's only happening in the UK. So the rest of us don't have to worry about it.

If it happened here i'd get pissed off, i get annoyed when people blame games or films with violence, i love playing games blowing the heads of people, commit crime etc etc in things like GTA but it doesn't mean im gonna go do it, hell im getting ready to apply for the Police force.

People seem to blame games as a way of trying to get out of criminal offences or lower their sentencing. A few years back when Manhunt had been out for a couple months a kid wen't and used a claw hammer to kill a classmate and then blamed it on Manhunt it's ridiculous that some people will say it's all down to games. Violent games don't cause violent people, violent games are cathartic.

This is so true. Video games take control of people man. I know whenever I play Tetris, the next day I'm out organizing blocks and shit.

That's a great idea. Not only will they punish non-insane people for the acts of a small handful of insane ones because their parents didn't raise them right, but they have now taken away from them a means to act out their aggressiveness in a fictional world so they will be more likely to go and act out in the real one.

Like anything else, if it's an addiction, it's a problem IMO.

Re: End The Violence [in Video Games]

This is where the abandoned / banned family father figure could do some good -

"Now son, don't take all of this violence to heart, 'cause if you do you'll either become a hardened criminal, a looser, a stiff or all of the above". :1orglaugh

Punch-Ups, bar-room brawls - some might prefer the real thing...and then having to explain to the wife those 'real things':1orglaugh:

I think it was in Scream 2 the following quote is from: art that imitates life that imitates art as far as violent movies go [and now Games]. It's already been out there long before the violence onscreen appeared. Alicia Silverstone's movie Clueless had a great quote spoken by Alicia herself about the whole violence in the media and entertainment industry and real life thing. And about how blaming movies for it is wrong, especially when they need it for entertainment value. And if they ban it from the entertainment industry then they should ban it from the news media as well and documentary's, ect. I can't remember what else she said in the movie as it's been a while sinse I saw it last.

om3ga

It's good to be the king...
Well, this is going to fcuk up those Pokemon battles...:D

I believe she says how until mankind is peaceful enough not to have violence in the news they shouldn't take it out of movies that need it for entertainment value. That is a good point and I don't know why humans (mainly Americans and Europe) want to be so scared of unstoppable violence and think it'll go away. It won't and games are used and made by people that thought of ways of dealing with the real life horrors of violence. Also why attack games when their are things that are way more accepted but equally if not more violent? Like the Bible, Movies and most TV shows. All made up but seen by more.

It is so fucking stupid that they want to ban violent video games cause a minority of people copy off them, that will be like making all kinds of knives illegal cause a minority of people stab people to death or banning religion cause a minority of religious people are fundamentalists. Violence has been around way before violent video games, way before violent movies, violent books, violent plays and the list goes on an on. Violence is in our day to day lives and violence is in nature too, it's natural to be violent whether you are a violent person or not.

I would agree with you except to say that people copy video games. Honestly, most of the time its just people with problems emotionally, or mentally which effect their behaviors. Blaming video games for it is just scapegoating.

The media and others would prefer to choose to blame something else for the failings of society, than look at the problem at hand and deal with it.

Placing the blame elsewhere is the sort of incentive that violence needs inorder for it to evolve.

LOL, I remember getting addicted to Driver and playing that all the time. Then when I was on my way to the store and saw a cop, I almost floored it.
