End The Police State

According to FOX-32, Mr. Jones was criminally charged with “resisting ***************” and “refusal to aid an officer.” Ms. Mahone immediately filed a complaint and the couple has since filed a federal lawsuit.

Needless to say, the Hammond Police Department is standing by the actions of its officers, and described it as “reasonable.”

Part of the urgency for punishing the seemingly mundane offense may have been related to Hammond’s participation in the federal “Click-it or Ticket” campaign, a program in which the department rakes in federal grant money in exchange for promising to harass motorists about wearing seatbelts. The grants are doled out annually to departments across the country from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA).

The Hammond Police Department has been mired in controversy recently after several uses of excessive *****. Additionally, there is a federal lawsuit pending after an HPD officer crashed a ****** cookout and shot a ****** pet in the face while inside its own yard, secured by an electric fence. In yet another recent incident, an officer was filmed whipping an HPD K-9 and lifting off the ground it by its leash. Both officers were supported by department officials and faced no consequences.

FOX-32 reported that one of the officers that assaulted Mr. Jones had been involved in two excessive ***** complaints that resulted in cash settlements.

Only citizen activism can create the pressure necessary to stop the unaccountable, abusive behavior displayed by the Hammond Police Department, as well as the federal grants that subsidize their bad behavior.

Oh look, a white police officer being an asshole when dealing with a black guy. How unusual...

I wouldn't have gone to that extreme but I can't fault them. The offenders weren't compliant and the officer was way too eager to smash that window.

A cop is just a human being with a *** and a badge.
a police officer's job is not to protect you or your rights or to enforce the law.
A cops job is to get you to obey.
enforcement of the law has to be done by the civilian population.
a civilian population surrendering its will to an authoritative power has got to expect some form of ***** from the appointed peace keepers.
a human being still has nature. - the law is good and important but it is created from the human mind, not from nature. - it is corruptible, and easily influenced.
If there is a cop at the scene of an event it means the law has either all ready been broken, or is in such a poor state that the officer is left with little option but to be a bully.
if the law is poorly upheld the only people willing to be police officers in such an area will most likely be bullies.
in that video i saw 2 wrongs not making a right.
a cop being harassing - probably with in the confines of the law but still harassing, and a civilian target of the harassment not prepared or even willing to conduct them selves in a cautionary manner, not antagonizing directly but not very cautionary.
both did not conduct themselves very well, which tells me there is a great deal wrong with that community.
I treat every police officer like a pit bull that has slipped its leash and is roaming around wild. where ever that ****** goes as far as its concerned - I have just crossed it's territory. I know how to behave in front of a loose dog, and a police officer, learned it young.
and just like with a dog you take every single little action with extreme caution.

Then why do they have "protect and serve" on the side of patrol cars?

You lost a lot of credibility right in the beginning:

According to FOX-32, ...

There is the first, big mistake.

Second: You need to use seatbelts. Here in Germany, it is mandatory since years, and it really helped. Handing out tickets is due to people thibnking putting themselves and others in danger is an act of freedom, all by itself. I suppose this goes along with feeling free due to possession of instruments of war (Automatic weaponry etc)

The majority of US-citizens sadly is dragging behind something like a hundred years on many things. These things are just two of them.

Police ********* is not acceptable - yet, I will not trust any FOX media outlet. That is just propaganda. Use credible sources.

I live in Chicago and Hammond, IN is part of the Chicago Metropolitan area. Fox 32 is one of the local TV stations here along with CBS, ABC, NBC, etc. Other than being under the Fox company, the local Fox affiliate is in no way connected to Fox News Channel

Will never happen as we move towards a criminal state. Prisons release so called low risk offenders. Ex-felons repeat numerous crimes such as robbery, sexual assault, gay bashing/**** crimes, stabbings et al. Home invasions and swatting are on the rise. Misdemeanors and felonies, hit and runs, DUI's due to drivers who posses a sense of entiltlement to break traffic laws. This includes brazen bikers who think sidewalks and traffic laws are not enforced. Living in San Francisco an extremely liberal city, San Francisco, sanctuary for ******* immigrants and the homeless has turned this beautiful city ugly. SFPD took down 3 within 2 weeks when ORDERED to drop their weapons. SFPD took them DOWN!! No MIRANDA. arraignment, DA wasting time, Plea bargaining, jury selection and tax payer money prosecuting and most of time, Pub. Def. defending. I will accept a police state overwhelmingly over a criminal state which be run by liberals soft on crime.

Actually the US are already a police state, since October 26th, 2001
