The underwater 'Ithaa' restaurant on the Maldives Rangali Islandsv

Conrad hotels have converted their underwater “Ithaa” restaurant at the Maldives Rangali Islands resort into a honeymoon suite beneath the waves.

The domed “reverse aquarium” usually seats a dozen diners and provides breathtaking views of exotic sea life including sting rays, parrot fish and blue-striped snapper.

However, to celebrate the hotel’s fifth anniversary, it has converted the room to accommodate a double bed, making it one of the most indulgent bridal suites on the market.

Guests are also treated to a complimentary ********* breakfast in the morning.

Although the hotel is not advertising a price, the experience is not likely to be cheap. A one-night stay in the resort’s top end accommodation above water – a King Deluxe Water Villa – costs £1,156.

Customers are advised to request the room at least 14 days in advance.
