Why can't I edit a 2 hour old post?

I've posted a link which doesn't work. Why can't I edit my post with the correct link? Do I have to start a new thread with the correct link?

Why don't you just provide the correct link in a new post of the same thread? No need to start a new thread! In 2 hours time there could be a lot of replies to your post. If you were able to edit it even after such a long time, big parts of threads could become completely messed up.

editing time i believe is one hour.

this way, if you said something, it stands... so you cant have an argument, or give an opinion and take it back.

we have contest here, like name these 5 girls, if we could edit a post, you would post first, maybe get 2 right, and edit the post later and get them all right.
