I never said it ruins anything. I was commenting on the lack of accuracy in that respect.

Well, I know people shouldn't take their history from movies but because the yanks took credit for something British troops did, it was an insult!

There was a movie made back in 1958 entitled "Dunkirk" but it really didn't do the subject justice.
