SORRY MY INTERNET IS BEING LAGGY BECAUSE I AM DL A VID FROM NAUHTY AMERICA
Its not so much the rules of the game for Shadowrun that I find confusing. Its quite straightforward and mostly uses a general common sense. But there is soo much "flavour" so many backgrounds, keywords, geography, paths to visit, that you can lose control of the reigns and the rules will suffer (and so the players will too) if you don't somehow
1/ Simplify the adventure (either giving out pre made characters and setting direct maps, and objectives, like a D&D pre-made adventure)
2/ Remove the rules and read the novels and just do free-form pure roleplay, giving you more time to explore the rich background and not get stuck on rules.
3/Learn everysingle rule and every single item and background :O noooooooo! I seriously couldnt do this. And improvise the adventures!
I liked 2nd edition. 4th edition has more information that is more related to current technology (but the differences are marginal between the editions, and any edition should be enjoyable and the last)
They all use dice pools, D6s, and have the same Cybered Samurai, Street Mage, Decker, Rigger, Orcs, Elves, Trolls. They are all set on Earth in the future around 2075AD after megacorps have taken over power from countries, and the matrix works the same, you have avatars and VR mode in the matrix can get burnt by Black Ice and die from dumpshock. They all have simsenses, the **** choice of the new meta gen. They have corps protecting their backs with AKs and Ares Predators from Mr.Johnsons trying to set up runs against their integrity. Its fun, but can get m3SSy!
