Doomsday Vault in Norway

Commedable.. but lets say there is a catastrophic event like an asteroid impact. The world is covered in a dust cloud for a few years and maybe a few of us survive. How the hell do we find and open this illusive vault?

Good point. I am sure somewhere along the line these things and others have been looked at. At least I would hope so. Maybe it will be manned like those Arctic stations out in the middle of nowhere. Changing personnel as time requires it, but always manned. When/if something happens they are protected just as the seeds are and will survive. I will have to leave all that up to them, the above statement by me is just an uneducated guess. :dunno:

I also subscribe to the idea that countries with space programs have 'shuttles' we know nothing of that will be sent up saving a group of certain people male and female if anything major happens. To come back when its safer. With the knowledge we have these days, I think that's a given. A futuristic Noah's Ark of sorts for the survival of mankind.

That's so typically Scandinavian. The rest of the world is enriching uranium for nuclear supremacy, and they're stockpiling SEEDS. :) I love it.

wjhat happens if they forget where they put it all

Well, there are these strange things called maps... you may have heard of them? ;)

guarantee that once this thread was pulled up, WTC is going to find some government plan behind it and let us all know with youtube videos

Why save the world, when you can rule it?
I think they built a vault to survive armageddon because they know that L3ggy is in the next country.

I think that not only should there be a vault for plants and other living things but vaults should also be made to house the total history and technical knowledge that humanity has acquired in as fine detail as possible and a means to teach people to access it, so in case of a future complete calamity humanity that survived would have a means to rebuild faster, and to know about their past.

norway, Sweden, Fineland. The most anti-religious cuntry's in the world....gotta love em.

A-religious (i.e secular) mind you, not anti-religious. We're not against religion... we just don't give a flying hoot about it.

The seed vault... good idea really. But why the heck are they putting it on a remote island in the Arctic Sea where you will freeze to death trying to reach?!

If I didn't want the average Joe to be dicking around with something or stumbling onto something, I'd make it as inaccessible and undesirable to reach as possible.

Of course I would be able to get to it though under any circumstance because I would have put it there and as such made a plan for how to do so.
