Donovan McNabb Traded to Redskins

I think Al Davis is being unfair to Raiders fans, but then again I like him for the sole fact that he is pissing off Roger Goodell.

For the Eagles: This wasn't a bad trade. McNabb was going to be a free agent next year, and there is a decent chance they would have just lost him for nothing then. IF Kolb is good enough to take over, then at least the Eagles got a good draft pick in a draft that is deep with talent, and another one next year. It sounds like most of the fans wanted McNabb to go, so it was probably time to move him. At least they got something out of him.

For the Redskins: In the short term, this move instantly makes them a much better team offensively. They have a good defense already, so they should be improved next year. I don't know if they are ready to compete for the division title, but I could definitely see them coming in second. Whether this ends up being a good deal for the Redskins in the long term is going to depend largely on whether or not McNabb signs a contract extention. Otherwise, he could very well be playing for his former offensive coordinator, Brad Childress, in Minnesota in 2011.

Nice analysis. I think that second part about him wanting to play for the Vikings is very accurate. Childress and McNabb are actually friends off the field. Unfortunately, we are all on Favre Watch for the time being, so until the time comes when we are off of Favre Watch, the future of the Vikings is murky at best.

What a shocking trade. I just can't figure out what the Eagles are doing this offseason. They have traded McNabb and a quality CB in Sheldon Brown in the last few days. Cowboys are without question the top team in the NFC East going into next season.

I thought that of their 3 QBs they would get rid of Vick. I thought that the rumors of McNab getting traded were just that. This move should make everyone involved happy. The Eagles are rid of the guy that they've been unsure about. McNab gets to go to a team that won't be playing games with him. The Foreskins get a solid quarterback on their roster. The thing that could screw things up for the Foreskins is Snyder's friendly, outgoing personality.

Fear not, they'll find a way blow it along the way.

Philly never deserved a player like Donovan.

The Skins are looking good. They need to pick a top OL with their #4 pick and they'll be back as contenders very soon. There is enough of a running attack (Portis, Johnson, Parker) to really make things easier for McNabb, and a top notch head coach with a great offensive mind. I like the moves Washington is making.

As is their nature... Philly is f*$%@n up, again

Great trade for Philly. Horrible one for the Redskins. McNabb has no blockers, crappy and old runners, no good wideouts, but 2 good tightends. The Redskins better hope they find a taker for campbell and they better draft and sign a bunch more lineman. i Predict no improvment recordwise and drafting in the same spot next year. oh and the rams and lions so should have beaten the Redskins last year

Good luck to him. As a cowboys fan I hate the eagles so now I'd be more willing to root for him to get that ring  I got more respect for the redskins anyway and should make those games a lot more interesting.

Sorry Diva, I also hoped they would have gotten him as I think the 9ers were the perfect spot for him. I hope the Eagles enjoy their slide back into that pit they used to reside in. :)

Bad trade for the Skins and Donovan . . . unless they plan on putting Albert Haynesworth on the O-Line to block for him.

Let's just hope that McNabb is a better pick-up than Albert Haynesworth. That's a waste of big bucks in sports if there ever was one.

Great trade for both.
Philly needed a change. They seem to really like Kolb and they get a good draft pick in a deep draft.
Washington gets solid QB with a few more years less and can use the top pick on the best OL available.
I read an article comparing the situation to Elway's when Shanahan got to Denver. At the time, Elway had the 'can't win the big one" rep, was 34 or 35, and then had 4-5 good years in which he won 2 SBs and cemented his place in the HOF. That's asking a lot of McNabb and Shanahan, but there are some parallels.

San Fran lets me down again. :( Fuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuck.

I'm a Niners fan and, As crazy as this sounds, don't forget about David Carr. He wasn't that bad in Houston and they had a horrible OL. He has no expectations, is from the bay area, and might surprise if ever having to play.
