Donovan McNabb Traded to Redskins

The Redskins are picking up some good players, I wouldn't be surprised if they are good playoff contender in a couple of years. They got a good QB in McNabb, a solid running game adding Parker to the roster with tons of speed, although he hasn't been productive lately, he will definitely help, and Moss at WR who's most likely going to be the go to man for McNabb. Shanahan is going to turn this team around. No, I'm not a Redskins fan, it's just what I see in the future.

You got to be kidding me ?

Well that puts a skewer into the draft.
Do the Skins still take a potential QB if there at 4? (Clausen?)

Draft day is gonna be interesting.

I'd pick up either a good lineman or another wide receiver now that they actually have a good QB. There's no need to bring in Clausen if he's just gonna sit behind McNabb. A lineman would be the more logical choice, it would help the running game and passing game.

As a skins fan, I'm shocked...I was hoping they'd give Campbell this season to see how he fits Shanahan's system, and draft O line with the #4 pick. Could be interesting, but I'd have liked this trade much better 5 years ago...

Well I think it's a friggin' awesome move by the 'skins! To only give up the 37th pick....do you think a rookie QB pick at 37 is going to be anywhere near as good as Donovan McNabb will be next year? No way. At long last they have realized that Jason Campbell is not the answer. McNabb has at least 2 good years left....maybe more.

This is the biggest player-acquistion development of the off-season except perhaps for Peppers going the Da Bears. Bold and ballsy move by the Redskins....

Guess this means that either Kevin Kolb or Mike Vick will be leading the Eagles too....should be interesting to see how that drama unfolds as well.

Fuck no they don't. Worry about that in 2 years.

I agree!

And I'm a Texans and Rams fan.

I think you'll see Donovan's full potential realized this year!

It might have taken longer than most but I think secretly, he couldn't wait to get the hell out of Philly and he'll be slinging with renewed vigor this year......especially in the NFC East! ;)

Good luck Philly with Kolb!

I still think we need to draft Clausen in the draft. Lord knows that McNabb could be knocked out by November and the last guy I want to see on the field is Jason "look one way" Campbell.

I'm just happy as a Chiefs fan, because this means the Raiders not getting McNabb, we still get to play against JeMarcus Russell twice a year. :nanner:

McNabb will be good for another year or two, but he's getting up there in age. Unless he somehow pulls a Favre he either won't be there when Washington is good again or he will be washed up. The Washington Readskin running backs are washed up, and not only can't they run, but they aren't the receiving threat that the Eagles backs have been for the last decade, especially Westbrook. They have no wide receivers. (Something McNabb complained about with the Eagles privately.) Their offensive line is terrible. If it was any worse it might be in the Chicago/Detroit level of ineptitude. One starter on Washington's offensive line might be able to start for the Eagles right now. They have a ton of new players. They have a new coach. They are also trying to all learn a new system this year. Their defense isn't as good as the Eagles. They also have one less high draft pick this year. Don't forget the Washington front office hasn't known what it has been doing since Snyder has taken over. While Shanahan was a good coach and probably still is, he hasn't been a good talent evaluator or general manager type of person in the last 7 or 8 years.

I don't envy McNabb right now, especially if he went with the trade to Washington to try and show up the Eagles. About the only hope of that is if Kobe really falls hard this year and vastly underperforms. Chip on his shoulder or not McNabb will either have to have a transcendent year rare in the history of the league for the circumstances he's in, or a very large number of Washington's players will have to get a lot better, they will have to really hit it off well in the draft, or some of their players will have to become like the used to be all at once. Remember that Washington was one of the worst teams last year and two of the three teams worse than them were Detroit and Saint Louis.

I do have to give Shanahan credit though. That is one potent backfield....if the year is 2005. :1orglaugh
