Don King, known as the legendary boxing promoter who introduced the world to Mike Tyson, was delayed in Cleveland Sunday. As a boxing promoter King has had the opportunity to work with many well known boxers. Names include those of Muhammad Ali, George Foreman and Evander Holyfield. He wears one of the most recognized hairstyles next to Donald Trump.
King's wife Henrietta King died due to complications with a long term illness. Upon leaving Cleveland after attending his wife's funeral King was found to have tried to carry ammunition in carry-on luggage on the airplane.
Scanners at Hopkins International Airport detected the ammunition, and it was immediately confiscated and King was allowed to continue with his flight. Airport security reportedly believes that ammunition was for a .357 weapon discovered at airport security according to Jackie Mayo, Hopkins Spokesperson.
There is not an excuse for carrying weapons of any kind aboard an airplane. With security threats and concerns people have to be aware of what they pack and accept responsibility for their actions. Putting other citizen travelers at risk is not acceptable. It's not known at this time if King was cited for his actions, but hopefully he'll have to face some consequences.
Shaun Rogers of the Cleveland Browns earlier this year was arrested in Cleveland at the same Hopkins International Airport for carrying a weapon. He was eventually convicted of carrying a concealed weapon. Will Don King face similar charges
