Do you guys think women should be allowed to serve in the military (SF)?

If there is a job to be done, you get the right person or team to get it done. Personal traits mean nothing compared to ability.

However, there is the aspect that if she gets captured and the almost certain atrocities that will be committed against her. If she were fully briefed on that and can deal with that, there should be no excuses except the PR disaster and the media circus to follow. (were it to happen)

There are operations so complex that something as simple as a menstrual cycle could jeopardize it.

For example, in many cases targets of ops routinely use the highly sensitive senses of animals like dogs to alert them to the presence of intruders.

Aside from some of the logistical difficulties an operator on a "period" would encounter on something like a week long forward reconnassaince op, there is also the question of focus and acuity in addition to the increased opportunity for detection by animals used to alert.

I don't contend these issues are all certainties but they are considerations and simply put in the SO world if there is a question, there is no question.

Good posting.

There are enough issues with people in general ...

There are enough issues with people in general. So I don't see women increasing the number of issues at all. As long as women can share showers and meet minimum requirements (reduced or not), I don't see a problem with it.

When women take advantage of situations, then they should be treated accordingly like anyone else. That seems to be the case in the US military. They have reached a balance in many regards on many things.

No need for social architecture in our military, the SF need not be a testing ground for social equality. Everything should be streamlined and test proven in this most advanced sector of our military. Why risk the greater possibility of looking like a horses ass ? This exercise of absolute equality just isn't going to fly.

and reserve yourself, this is not a hit piece on women !
Women can do things that men can't.
Let's just figure out how to win a war first. How many years has it been ?

Eh?!? There are loads of women in sports. Granted not competing with men but more than physically capable to be at the peak of fitness.

Umm…no, the fact that they can't compete with the men is a pretty clear sign and some of the best proof that they don't compete at the very upper peak of physical ability. Otherwise they would be playing along side of them.

Women should definitely be allowed in the military. . .serving in the ironing, cooking & cleaning regiments!!

Isn't that what the U.S.M.C is there for?.

And the United States Marine Core initials is misspelled it should read as U.S.C.C. [United States Catering Core]. That be about all they are good for.

The person in the USMC/USCC with half a brain... is king. What does that say for the rest of them.

And yet ...

The person in the USMC/USCC with half a brain... is king. What does that say for the rest of them.
And yet, they are the main reason why not only Americans, but any cititzens of NATO and US allies aren't touched when things break down when they travel to a foreign nation.

Touching results in 3,000 of those "half a brain (or less)" Marines in 24 hours, with a guaranteed 30,000+ within a week to protect American and allied citizens.

If there's a woman among them, fine by me. I'd give her a gentle kiss on the cheek as thanks. And unlike a lot of whiny women, she'd take it as thanks and nothing more.

Since there has been BC pills and such out for years that pretty much completely eliminate the "period", and after a day or 2 any man is gonna have a pretty rank odor regardless, is there any SO SD that can't carry 250 lbs for a decent distance? Is that the top spec for an effective SO...besides their SD?
I've seen tiny DI's wearing the Corps insignia, and anyone can reasonably assume a DI is a competent soldier...
As for getting gang raped 20 times a day in captivity, getting your nuts crushed is a more difficult torture than waterboarding...I see no real difference in getting shit done to ya, in the possibility of capture.
Believe me, if I had a pink .45 I'd still put a hole in ya big enough to describe the guy behind ya...a weapon is effective whether or not it fits a "manly" criterion. Or can carry 250 lbs 25 yards at a run...
I could be wrong...

Yea:cool:

70 pounds of gear just simply could not be handled by the atypical female...NO WAY. Political correctness has infiltrated the armed forces, for sure. If they want to be in some forces like the Navy or in non-military roles, I suppose that is okay, but other than that unless they are some huge butch (whom I have met and know there are out there), I suppose that's okay. But I just can't see my little 115lb GF ever being able to handle the rigors of full out combat. :2 cents:

I don't think women in combat roles would be a good idea, I mean, seeing young men coming back maimed from combat is hard enough, imagine how hard it would be to see a pretty young girl coming back home with third degree burns and missing limbs?

I think it has to do with keeping the morale up in the homefront, if, like I said, when our boys come back with missing limbs or dead and we see a lot of people just wanting to throw in the towel and give up (Berkley, I'm looking at you) imagine how more it would be if we were also seeing the same number of young girls.

In spite of that, I think it would be fun to see a full regiment of ladies going up and kicking Osama's ass, that would be extremely demoralizing for his minions.

War is hell - it's not for the weak: Commander Shuts Down Fort Campbell Because of Suicides

Friday, May 29, 2009 8:25 AM

WASHINGTON — The commander of Fort Campbell army base in Kentucky has ordered a three-day suspension of regular duties to focus on a spike in suicides among his troops amid concern over a wider trend across the armed services.

The "stand-down" Friday entered its third day at Fort Campbell, which is home to the famed 101st Airborne Division and has recorded the highest rate of suicide in the army, with at least 11 confirmed or suspected suicides.

Brigadier General Stephen Townsend announced the stand-down to focus attention on the problem after two more soldiers took their lives last week.

"It's bad for soldiers, it's bad for families, bad for your units, bad for this division and our army and our country and it's got to stop now. Suicides on Fort Campbell have to stop now," he told troops.

"Suicide is a permanent solution to what is only a temporary problem," Townsend said.

"No matter how bad your problem seems today, trust me, it's not the end of the world. It will be better tomorrow. Don't take away your tomorrow."

Would many women really even WANT to be in the Special Forces???

For those who would, I say why not let them give it a shot?

So now I have an operator who has to rely on a hormonal contraceptive in the form of a patch, daily dose, etc. in order to make their cycles more predictable or in some cases eliminate it?

Can you understand why that would fairly undesirable circumstance for an SO commander and his operators?

Wow...time to leave the Middle Ages...
First you don't want a woman who is unpredictable to serve when she may have a stress factor of a period to deal with...then, when it is pointed out that there are BC forms (monthly and trimonthly apps) that remove this problem, then it's "can't depend on a solution that requires a chemical ingestion every once in a while"...harumph, harumph...
Pul-eeze...just come right out and say it...women belong in the kitchen or in the bedroom, war is for manly men ...harumph...not for the fairer sex.
Tell that to the Viet Vets...
