Do you envy/resent those who have more than you?

This is one of the pillars of the left, if not the very keystone. Tsarinas and their ******** have been ******** over it.

I didn't grow up rich, and I'm not rich now, but when I see someone who is more affluent than I, my natural thought is not envy, but good for them.

I'm no saint by any means, but I think I was just born without that trait and thankful for it. And thankful for what I do have.

Very few have more than me.
I was raised in a wonderful ******.
I am married to an awesome lady.
We have surrounded ourselves with some of the most salt of the earth friends you could ever ask for.
We have our health.
Everything else is just clutter.

Envy is like jealousy and hatred. Completely ****** emotions. What good does it do you to be envious of what someone else has? Envy won't bring any of it to you. If you're jealous, you only hurt yourself, because if there's something to be jealous about, your jealousy isn't going to change it, and if there isn't, you just harm people who care for you. In fact, negative emotions ultimately hurt the person who has them more than the people those emotions are aimed toward. Life's too short to waste on paying attention to what others have or are doing. Being me takes up all my time.

true.

I never have been envious of what others have.

I have a friend that is super wealthy and he is very competitive. If you get a new car, he goes out and buys one nicer.

The only thing I will credit him for is he never mentions or brags about his possessions or wealth.

I typically don't give a fuck; "good on you, bandit, you got yours", but in the case of people like Bernie Madoff, Ken Lay, Martin Shkreli and criminals like them, I don't shed any tears when they get put in prison.

This thread is another example of Little Ani's "fuck-the-left" campaign.

And this article from Slate is fucking comedy gold. pharma bro should henceforth be known as pharma dick.

As said by the right.

Reality is, naturally, elsewhere.

Steering away from that bullshit beginning, let's talk about wealth. Q1: Who deserves it? Is 'deserve' even the right word?

"Politics of envy" is a term the right loves to toss out there when they're defending their latest handout to the already rich at the expense of the working class. "You want a progressive tax system? Why are you being so mean to our risk takers???"

Of course there was a time when many of the wealthy were the result of their own hard work, talent, and good decisions. But in modern times it's almost always the result of being born with more resources than most. What we're seeing now is an ultra wealthy ruling class with unprecedented control over policy and the misguided belief that they are where they are because of intelligence and hard work, when really they've been playing their whole lives bowling with the gutter guards up, because their parents bought the bowling alley. Can anyone think of an example of someone who has achieved a position of great power even though they seem to have no intelligence or understanding of what they're doing?

The right in America have bought into the myth that these people are somehow better and smarter and harder working than the rest of us, and will be our saviors, when all they're really doing is finding new and creative ways to subvert laws to enrich themselves even further at the expense of the working class, the environment, and often the economy itself.

I would like to see inheritance tax laws changed everywhere, not just the US. First 10 million is tax free. After that, 100%. If you're that smart and talented and hard working you'll have no trouble getting those billions back with a $10 million headstart.

No one has more than I do. I feel certain that I am richer than anyone on this forum. I wouldn't trade places with anyone.

Nope.

A lot of people have more than me. I'm not rich, I'm just wealthy enough to live a good life

This is one of the pillars of the left, if not the very keystone.
No, it's not.

You mistaking envy with solidarity. the core idea of the Left is that those who have very much should pay to assist those who have very few money.

When you make $5.0000/month, $100 is no big deal, you can leave confortably without these $100. But when you make $500, if the government gives you $100 it means a lot, it will make a huge difference.
